Hi folks,
I am looking at buying my first high end air rifle. Any models stand out in your minds.
I have a $700 limit for the rifle. I would like 950fps rated or higher. A good trigger
and an accurate reliable rifle is a must. Will mount a scope so factory sights are not
important. Just want a quality rifle that will need no mods or tinkering. Plan to hunt
small critters with it. Thanks for any info, it is very much appreciated.
Jim

Thank you all for the info. I think I will get a Weihrauch/Beeman R1. Any idea who has good pricing on a new R1? Also, any ideas around scope models/brands. I am thinking a 4-12x40?
Anyone know of any dealers in eastern Ontario? As I am new to air rifles, any comments
suggestions are very much appreciated.
Thanks again
Jim

The R1 / HW80 is a very good break barrel rifle and is good for pest control light hunting and plinking. If these are you primary concern it is a good choice. It can also have a gas ram installed to replace the spring. It was the hardest of all my spring guns to shoot when I first got it and I had to do a home tune with a Macarri kit and piston buttons to calm it down. At first it left my hand numb after shooting from the harshness, and it is still the most hold sensitive of my guns to shoot. If you are new to high power spring guns it may not be the best choice. I hope you don't take offense at my words but I just want to make sure that you make an aware choice. My Hw80 also wrecked a Bushnell 6-24 scope with its recoil. (they replaced it on warranty).
