Finding centre is critical to making consistent scoped shots. To do that requires either bobbing your head around every time to find that optical centre, or more practically (speedily) it can be done by memorizing the placement of your face on the stock. If you rehearse it enough, getting the right 'cheek weld' every single time can save you a lot of missed shots and a lot of time spent hunting around for optical centre. If it takes modifying your stock or even buying a different stock so be it. Among air pistol competitors grip carving is pretty much a requirement. Getting the grip tuned to a point where sight alignment is automatic is a crucial element, so there's no twisting of the wrist to force the sights into line. It's the same with rifle shooting and getting the eye in the right relationship to the scope. And yet strangely it seems very few air rifle shooters seem interested in removing or adding stock material.

100% on those topics Gerard! Practicing your "hold" with dry firing should be practiced 10x the number of live shots you take. I have had professional coaches all my life and that is one they all agree on one thing that dry fire practice is essential! Even if you can't dry fire your particular gun getting the stance and hold on your rifle is critical. Muscle memory as they say is the key to consistency!

Unfortunately the trigger on my 2240 is proving to be the weak link in the chain for me hitting the bull. Thing's just too hard, even with a couple of modifications which helped some. So I'll be making a new sear lever this week modelled after the SuperSear and see what happens, probably get it wrong, then order the real thing. Or not. Never know what an hour of tinkering with steel and files and a Dremel can turn out. It's funny but at first it didn't bother me at all. Guess I was focused on just getting the gun rebuilt to my liking, fixing the various leaks, so the bad trigger didn't jump out at me. Now I'm settled into using it and find that the trigger on my Atomic feels fantastic by comparison. It was never a superstar but an adequately light and predictable one. Of course I'd like all my triggers to feel like the one on my Pardini... but that's just daydreaming.
