Spoke to Gerry today and ordered 1 IZH61. Very pleasant person to talk too - can't wait to get my hands on the IZH61

Received my IZH61 from GMK after 5 business days. Here are some observation after 1 week of owning it

1. Packaging
Comes in plain cardboard box with some paper wrapping. Rifle came with 2 magazines, spare spring, cleaning rods (?) - haven't actually opened the wrapping for this one - and presumably a spare seal. No instruction manual enclosed however Gerry at GMK did offer to mail one. A PDF is available on the net. I was expecting better packaging from Baikal to avoid shifting of the rifle and possibly mis-aligning the barrel nevertheless mine was ok. Gerry was a nice person to deal with and will buy from him again.

2. Instruction Manual (printed off the net)
Could have been more clearer but after fiddling with rifle - I was able to figure it out

3. The Rifle

Hit:

- Well-designed - like the cocking lever and the polymer stock
- Futuristic look
- Best bang for the buck (literally)
- Fairly accurate
- Compact/light
- Decent FPS for indoor target shooting

Misses:
- Too much plastic - I am willing to pay more for metal breech, sight rail,
front and rear sight
- Sight rail too short
- Most likely to dry fire unless you count your shots (already did this 3 times)
- Magazine - pellets falls out. I would have preferred aluminum magazine
- Adjustable stock too short and not tight - it got better after I used the
second hole and added a rubber washer to the screw knob

What I have added so far
- 3x~9x 32 Tasco .22 rimfire scope.

What I am planning to add or change:

Scope Ring
- might get a medium scope ring or the ones which allows you to see thru
the original sight. I already maxed out on the elevation settings

Muzzle Brake
- where do I get one?

Lights
- anybody know what options are out there?

Overall comments
I will buy this rifle again. Baikal should offer this in PCP version or even in higher FPS version for hunting.

My toys
AG = PPK, CPSport, NightHawk and of course IZH61
RC = RC10B4, HPI-MT2, TNX, RC18T, MiniQuake
MB = Gary Fisher Sugar 4
AV = Yamaha/Sony/Paradigm Performance Series/Mission FS2 Flat Panel
Hitachi 52" HD Wide Screen CRT/Panasonic DVD/ToshibaDVD/Teac
CD Recorder
RX/TX = Moto 250, IC4008A, Cobra, Moto 5200, TR2400 scanner,
RadioShack mobile FRS, Yosan, Midland

Wish list (just have to look for a job that will help pay for my toys)
- Optoma H31 projector/Draper drop down screen
- Toyota Yaris
- Gemeinhardt Flute
- Paradigm Performance Series Phantom

1 more toy and my wife is ready to leave me!

Hi Dirtbuster,

Congrats on the IZH-61. You will like that rifle.. especially the fact that the stock is adjustable making it easy to carry around in a small case.

I have one and to aswer a couple of your questions;

1. Muzzle Brake - I used the Beeman Aluminuim version from D & L. I used a little bit of black electrical tape on the barrel so that the muzzle fits snug. This way you will not damage the barrel with the set screws.

2. Light - I used the one that came with my Nighthawk. Picked up a barrel mount weaver base and attached the light to it. Looks great!

Crosman will be importing the lights sometime in June. I asked for a couple to add to my rifles plus the Nighthawk. For now, I removed the one off the pistol.

FYI... I did come across a IZH-62 rifle from Baikal which is the PAL version of our IZH-61 on the internet. Just don't know where to pick it up from. Baikal Canada does not import it.

Enjoy your rifle.

BTW... as for more toys... My wife has said this weekend that if I decide to keep the DVDO video processor that I am trying out, it will be the dog house for me!

Take care,

NIGHTHAWK

Hi Nighthawk,

Thanks for the response. I actually saw your collection in the gallery and liked them. That Xisico B9 looks good too

Been enjoying the IZH61 - I am teeny bit away from perfectly zeroing in the sights

Wanna share the dog house?

Regards,

DirtBuster
