Just thought I'd post this, possibly as an incentive to other shooters considering FT. I ordered this Tuesday of this week, and it arrived Thursday! Jocelyn from Cibles is great to deal with, and ships this pump to forum members for $10. I couldn't believe how fast it arrived.

I hope you got the "show special" price on that pump - he usually has a 30% discount on them at the Canadian Airgun Grand Prix.

Just kidding.....
Congrats on step one.

Nice, how does it shoot?
Just kidding, what type of rifle will you be using for FT?

You have got my curiosity up, what have you and your father come up with for the rifles you are going to purchase. And I am fairly sure they are going to be PCP, no?

Supr....you had me going for a second...not very nice!
Keyrigger, we're going to use .177QBs converted to PCP. I had initially given up on going the PCP route because of the cost, but mainly because I didn't like the amount of pumping required to pressurize the guns that run at 3000psi.
The QBs operate on much lower pressure, so far less pumping time/effort is required. I also already have a thumbhole stock for a QB, which I prefer.
My father and I split the cost of the pump, so we'll each have a pretty nice setup to learn with for not too much money.
Now we just have to choose scopes...

I have been cringing at the cost of PCP guns as well. How did you convert the QB? I have a springer mainly due to cost. No co2

Don't discount springers! There is a decent following of FT shooters who shoot in the Piston class, so you won't be the only one out there. Both Canshooter and I are planning on still shooting our piston rifles at the Waterloo (Elmira) FT matches.

There are other shooters who just shoot in the Piston division, so its always a good time and a challenge.

To be totally honest, I just don't enjoy the "feel" of springers. The two way recoil is a sensation I just don't like compared to the smooth feeling of firing a CO2/pump/PCP rifle.
Here's the second part of the equation for me...just picked it up a couple hours ago. My thumbhole stock will be going on tonight...

I would not be too fast to order the one piece mount. Get the two piece as it will give you a lot greater selection as to the spot you want to mount the scope. If you need to push the mount forward as it is too close to your eye, the one piece will hang you up as you get too close to the breach. Get the Accushot 30mm High, two piece mounts. The number is RGPM-30H4. If your rifle was a springer, then I would highly recommend a one piece mount.

I'm curious about the PCP Conversion on the QB78.... Is that an Extended Bulk Tube and Bulk End Cap with a HPA Quik-Connector and an extra Barrel Band?.... Are there any other parts needed?.... What about valving and internals?.... What pressure will it be running at and what velocity?.... :?

I assume these are all parts from Sniper or similar?.... I know nothing about the QBs....

I fully agree with Keyrigger about the Accushot mounts. You don't need a one piece. I've got both the one piece (for my HW97) and the two piece (for my Steyr) they are good mounts for pennies.

If you're ordering them online from somewhere like Specialty Shooting Sports (or anywhere else for that matter) you'll be paying around $10 for shipping, so you might as well add some pellets since you're already paying for shipping.

Hey there pumpmaster, looks like we'll be shooting similar rigs....
I'll be adding the 8-32X56 30mm tube Leapers W/2 piece mounts to this shooter... No pump, so CO2 for now...
