While looking around at my usual air gun retailers’ websites for new items, I came across a great deal at Airgunsource.com. It was the Crosman 2100B for $49.99. :supz:
Since I don't already have one, there is no way I am passing up an opportunity to take a peek inside one for cheap.

Looks like new old stock discovered way back in the warehouse. The 70’s looking box.

The gun came with a bonus 4X Crosman scope. I was expecting brown stock. I guess ‘B’ after the model number means black. :(

It feels like my Crosman 1077 in weight and construction. It does have a hefty pot metal receiver. Shot a few felt cleaning pellet thought it first, and then a dozen or so pellets. Everything seems to be operating fine, pretty decent accuracy. Not bad at all for $49.99.
The trigger definitely needs work. I am not planning to use BBs, so all mechanism feeding the BBs will be removed and the gun optimized for pellet use.
After taking the gun apart, the first thing I noticed was the probe is not pushing the pellets completely pass the transfer port, and there is no probe seal. Here is my fix. I removed the magnetic tip, drill the hole deeper, and replace the tip with an extended probe tip made of a turn down 4-40 screw and sealed the tip with a #1 O-ring. JB Welded in place. The plastic probe needs to be lobbed off a bit so the O-ring sits just behind the transfer port.

The 2100 use a ‘straw’ barrel, similar to my 1077. Similarly, its muzzle end is loosely center at the front by the front sight/ bushing assembly. A tighter tolerance bushing is in order. I lob 1.5” off the front of the barrel so the barrel housing will act as a shroud. The new bushing is notched to make full use of the housing cavity. Conducted the typical re-crown, lead-in polish, and transport de-burr.

Loose fitting of barrel to pot metal breech require a bit of shimming. Some electrical tape gets the job done and provides a better seal between the transfer ports.

Polish up and lube all contact surfaces of the trigger parts. Replace the sear spring with a lighter one. Over bend the trigger spring to lighten it a bit. Install a set screw to take up all the slack in the trigger, yet still retain the use of the safety. The trigger is much better than stock, no more fake long first stage take up and creepy second stage. Now it is just a short, single stage; very similar to a tuned 22XX trigger.

Results: Crosman 2100B that is quieter, better accuracy, more efficient and much more predictable trigger. :supz:

I really like your idea of chopping the barrel, A high end PCP feature on a 50$ crosman pumper, classic.

How does the idea perform?

Thanks.

It is definitely much quieter, about as quiet as a Daisy 853 at six pumps. I might install a plug that reduces the front sight/bushing hole to further reduce the noise.

Nice, I was inspired to try it on my 2100 classic. Will change the shroud with 5/8x0.034''x2FT tube adding 4 inches to length and reduce noise. Still waiting for parts...Will have it registered with PAL when reassembled. Can't wait to see the numbers fps !

Wood stock is next upgrade.
