The long awaited Hatsan AT44-PA .22cal has arrived! 8) 8)
It took about a week for it to ship from Sniper on the east coast to me on the west coast.

Well packaged and arrived safely.

Comes with a brass filling probe, a brass degassing device, 4 extra probe O-rings, an Allen key for adjustments, an extra set of seals, and 2 magazines.

Here are some of my initial impressions after looking over the AT44-PA.

Construction quality is on par with my Benjamin Sheridan Trail NP All-weather, which is amazing considering the price. For a bit more than the price of the Trail, you get a repeating PCP!
No worries about tossing this gun around. It feels very solid. Looks like it can take some beating without any issues. Beefy double barrel band, muzzle protector, long and wide breech with nice solid combo Weaver/dovetail scope rail and tough polymer stock.
This baby has some heft, more so than my B51, about the weight of a scoped HW95, a bit less the Trail NP AW kit.
Decent open sights. I might just leave this gun open sighted for quick and easy handling.

I have only been able to cycle the action and dry fire it a few time, with 150 Bar factory air pressure in the cylinder.
Operation is a bit on the rough and stiff side. The trigger is also set a bit heavy for my taste. However, nothing a bit of polishing and lubing won't fix.

When I have some more time, I'll give the barrel a good cleaning and give you some shooting impressions.
So far, construction wise, I am impressed with what you get for the price.

Big thumbs up to Sniper for bring us a solid, well priced, PCP. :drinkers: :D :D :D :drinkers:

So...the pump action is not as slick as desired? Any comments on HOW hard it is to work?

Looking at one myself; and appreciate your review!

Thanks.

The pump action operate just fine. The effort required to operate the pump is about the same as cock a bolt action PCP, but through the pump action.
It is not going to be as slick as a side lever action, where you have better mechanical advantage from a longer lever throw.
The pump action is capable of faster reloading at the expense of smoothness. I was planning to use it with a low power scope or open sighted, so it is not an issue.
If someone is planning to use it with a high power scope for long range sniping with a rest or tripod, you are better off with the side lever cocking version.
If you want a fast handing gun with no fumbling, the pump action might be the ticket.

There is always room for the pump action to be smoother with a bit of tuning.

That would indeed be sweet 8) ....But those numbers seem pretty high, 65 shots at +50FPE in .25cal from 255cc at 200bar? I'll believe that when I see it

^X2

52 FPE x 65 shots = 3380 FPE total
255cc / 16.4 = 15.5 ci.... If we assume you can only use from 200 Bar down to 100 Bar that is 100 x 15.5 = 1550 cu.in of air at 1 Bar....

That works out to 3380 / 1550 = 2.18 FPE/ci.... or for Voltar1, 7.5 Barcc/FPE.... I've never seen a PCP with even half that efficiency at those power levels....

If the BT65 lives up to those claims.... then Hatsan have found the holy grail of performance on HPA....

I was able to find a bit of time to clean the barrel and run a few magazines of pellets through the AT44-PA.

It is tough to manually clean the bore of airguns that uses magazines. An easy method is to load up some felt cleaning pellets and shoot it clean.
Image

Load them up!
Image

Make sure they make it pass the O-ring groove. I push them through until they are flush to the other side.
Image

A drop of cleaning lube, suitable for the purpose, on alternating felt pellets.
Image

The tenth pellet came out pretty clean. Good enough!
Image

I was able to put 4 magazines of pellets thought the gun from 150bar to 100bar. Pretty good efficiency.
Out of the box, the trigger is very predictable. Not a Rekord, but still good in my books. I'll play with the trigger adjustments down the road.
I just shot the gun open sighted. The open sights need very little adjustment to be right on at 10m. Accuracy is good so far. Easy quarter size groups.
Noise is relatively low, about the same as an average springer, much quieter than a QB78. I guess it uses air very efficiently.
The pump action needs a bit getting use to. You need to pump it like you mean it. The magazine indexes and the hammer latches at the last few millimeters of the inward stroke. You have to dive it home with conviction. Afterward, you need to push the pump handle outward to the very end so that it latches.
Once you get a hang of it, you can cycle the magazine pretty fast.

YW. The AT44 is a solid first PCP.
I use a pump. It is easy to use. Good exercise.
I'll definitely keep posting, when I can get some more free time to play with the AT44.
Looks like lots of people have a chance to play with the AT44. There is more and more AT44 information on the forum. :D

At44 is popular in IRAN and a new long barrel version with 230cc tank is available.(900$ with pump)
Unlike the springers of hatsan ,people likes their PCPs.
They are not cheap here and around 700$ for short version with hand pump.
about shooting capacity its true only if you count all the pellets coming out from the barrel!
