No offense, but since it is now converted to .45 ACP, wouldn't mean it now lost its antique status?

If I understand correctly, antique handguns in Canada are handguns that are made before 1898 that discharges center-fire cartridges other than 32 Short Colt, 32 Long Colt, 32 Smith and Wesson, 32 Smith and Wesson Long, 32-20 Winchester, 38 Smith and Wesson; 38 Short Colt, 38 Long Colt, 38-40 Winchester, 44-40 Winchester, or 45 Colt cartridges.

The way I read the firearm acts, as you pointed out, if a handgun produce before 1898 is design for or converted into one of the cartridge listed, its not an antique, therefore, a .45 Colt single action army revolver produce in the 1880s is not an antique, since .45 Colt is one of the cartridge listed, but .45 ACP is not. So in this case, the Webley revolver in question, produce before 1898, is an antique no matter its .455 Webley or .45 ACP. make sense huh?
.

This is correct.

The list does say "45 Colt cartridges" (with an "s") so one (including myself) would assume that it includes the .45 ACP. :?

Well...you know what they say about people that assume........applies here as well.

The "S" is because it finishes a plurality (naming of several cartridge*s*)......Now, if it said "45 caliber cartridges developed by colt", you'd have a point....but in the context of how it is written, "45 colt" denotes the particular cartridge by that name.

Further: If you were right there wouldn't be any antique status 45ACP's legally for sale....yet there are lots of them. LOL...The powers that be (namely the CFO) are as restrictive as the law allows (and then some)....but even they come across as more leniant than some here
