I got a membership to the local rifle and pistol club. I was practicing with my Walther LP53 and wasn't doing too badly for an amatuer shooting offhand with a very hold-sensitive gun. Mostly shooting in the black.

It was okay shooting near the rimfire guys but I found myself noticeably distracted once they started taking out their magnum handguns. The noise was affecting my shot placement and form even with hearing protection. The indoor range is only open until March and closed all summer. When I asked the RSO what match shooters do during the summer he just said, "nobody shoots ten meter here" (apparently airguns are just for kids).

I plan on being down in the Vancouver area and maybe the Island this summer if time permits. Maybe someone knows if there are ranges that have airgun nights or at least small-bore/rimfire only? Seeing as how I just spent over $1,000 between my IZH 46M, Varga glasses, traps, pellets and score plugs it would be kinda nice if I actually get to use them!

Hey, fonestar,
When in town, contact the Richmond Rod and Gun club - they have an indoor 10m range that is open Mon/Wed/Fri. There is a nominal fee for non-members. http://rrgc.homestead.com/
I myself went for the fist time last week just to say hi and see what's up. Thinking about joining to get the kids into shooting.
There were a few serious PCP hand gun shooters and some casual rifle guys. The range master (?) was really knowledgeable.
Check it out...

Richmond has an indoor range that is used regularly for AirGun

You might like to check the Sapperton Club out. I have a couple buddies that shoot their Pistols there, on regular basis. The Arenex in Queens Park, New Westminister.

Not sure how busy the Richmond range gets. I have only been once to check it out, it was a Monday night and there were 4-6 guys there. I figure there were about 10 shooting lanes, maybe.
The fellow did say Fri is busiest, of course. Shoots are 7-9pm Mon/Wed/Fri.
Any forum members also Richmond Rod and Gun Club members???? Gotta be some...!!! Anyone...? Bueller...? Bueller...?

Thanks for the information cabin fever. If I don't work nights, I would go by the Richmond Rod and Gun Club just to check out the place.

One question though, do that have lanes that a person can shoot prone and kneeing? I kind of notice that most places like to only have offhand position for shooting. I am kind of lazy, so I like to shoot kneeing, sitting, and on the floor. haha.
