The record of shot velocities that came with my new Alecto shows a group of shots at about 106 mps or about 350 fps. I think it's time for the much talked about bleedvalve adjustment. The trouble is that although I've just spent 45 min. looking for a how to, none of the links work.
If someone would at least tell me where this valve is I think I could figure the rest out. Of course a full how to set of instructions would be welcome.
Thanks.
Red.

I'm expecting an Alecto in the mail as well so I'm eagerly awaiting to see if you get a good response on this.

The closest thing I've been able to find is this video (by a well known member of this forum). He explains rather quickly what has to be done, and seems to be pretty sure it's an easy process.

He get's into it at about 7 or 8 minutes in.

Good luck buddy, lemme know what happens...

Thanks averagejoe. Maybe I shouldn't say this but a fellow asks for help, 38 folks view it, but it's a guy from Alberta that responds.

Been a couple years since I did mine and forgot that I had taken pic's
Easier to reassemble if you do not remove the pin completely
E-Clip goes bye-bye very easily. I ended up buying spares after doing a few guns.

Nice pictures Scruffie!

So from what it looks like, there's just 2 pins to move before you can get at the valve screw?

Lastly, I know that turning he screw clockwise all the way will take it over 500fps, so how far back for all the way would you say is the sweet spot (approx 1/4 turn? 1/8?). I know thats a very specific question but if anyone can remember...

Thanks for the pics Scruffie. I have the original guide as a PDF but i did not want to post a download link out of copyright concerns.

I would suggest that 1/8 of a turn back would be fine. I chronied mine with CPHP with the valve turned all the way up and got a max a max of about 470 FPS. It seems to retain air as the 2nd and sometimes 3rd shots are higher than the first until they finally plateau. This seems to happen even with it turned down a bit.

Please note that when you punch out the 2nd pin you DO NOT need to push it out all the way. Only pushing it enough to access the valve is so much easier.

That's 3 warnings now that I've heard about pushing the pin out all the way hahaha
It must be quite the headache putting it back in
Boy am I ever gonna be careful about that...

Thanks for the advice and pictures everyone

Just did the mod. Gun works great, I'm happy to report no problems.
Please note that if you attempt this mod, turning the valve screw all the way will push the gun into the realm of illegality in Canada, so don't do that! After turning it all the way, walk it back a few eighths of a turn to be safe, and check your results with a chrony to be sure.

A few things to keep in mind (in addition to what was said above, including the ever important "DON'T PUNCH THE SECOND PIN ALL THE WAY OUT")

First, when attempting this mod, a second set of hands would be good. When you are putting the whole thing back together, you have to line up all the respective holes to get the final pin in place. You don't have to push really hard on anything, but you have to basically apply pressure in 3 directions (a bit down, a bit backwards, and then sideways to push the pin back). Without help, this step honestly took me just as long as the rest of the mod all together did. Of course I wasn't really familiar with what to do, so maybe I just had bit of a bubba moment as they say...

Second, watch out for the two springs (you'll see them in the picture). They are only held in place by globs of grease, so it's easy for one to fall out and disappear.

Lastly, this is a very easy. It's 1 pin out, 2 pin halfway out, turn the screw, then put it back together. That's it. Like I said in my review, compared to this, installing a steel breech on a Crosman 13xx/22xx is brain surgery. That being said, remember that over-tightening the valve screw will make your Alecto into a restricted firearm, SO DON'T DO THAT.

Good luck! Shoot safe and have fun!

Hmm I've been wanting to do this valve mod, I'll wait until I get a chrony though!
