I finally found my old pellet rifle which I always thought was a daisy and it isnt at all.....I dont think. I am not up on air rifles at all.

It is marked GOHAR - made in Hungary - serial 47978 and the barrel has this stamped on it ... (4)

I will post a picture tomorrow when I am not to tired to find my camera.

In a real a real old thread (2005) had someone thinking another guys reminded them of a Diana20.

It does look a bit like one but the pictures now are modern and mine was bought in the 70's. And no I didnt shoot my eye out when I finally got it!!!

I remember my brother literally throwing it in the lake at the cottage a few years later when one of my highschool buddies shot the side of the outhouse while he was in it.

It was not a period of responsible shooting and there was Export involved I recall.

It has been dormant for 20 years on a soft case in the basement and it just really kicked when I dry fired it.

Any ideas what I have here?

Notec good lead.
It is one of those Relums or a frankenstien of one.
I should ask my dad where we got it way back then.
It has the single piece lever piece but the stock doesnt match any of the models shown on airgun spares as far as I could tell...mind you its late and i cant sleep so....not the clearest.
I just put a few rounds (in the basement "range') through it and seemed seemed to fire as strongly and accurately as my new Co2 pistols at least.
Its missing some screws all together or have been replaced and the stock is cracked a lot but sure seems mechanically sound for all its been through.
Is there anyone around TO who could give it a tune up?
I would like to try to make (or have made) a new stock with a longer pull length. Short ones bugger up my bad shoulder.
Here are some pics.
Any idea what it worth considering the shape its in? Not that i want to part with it but had to ask.....

I searched that CAF user name and it came up blank.

Would he be to help with a rebuild/tune up in TO? or to value the little shooter?

Do not dry fire your springers. Those old springers are usually built like tanks but dry firing it can damage parts that just can't be fixed like the piston or transfer port, especially if the leather seal that was in it rotted out, it will be metal on metal... not good!

Thanks Doc for the warning.

I just did it that once since I wasnt close to my ammo and too curious to see if it even would pop.

Subsequently sent pellets through it just fine last nght as I said.

I will not dry fire it again for sure.

Any suggestions on who would be able to give it a once over near Toronto?

There's not many springer tuners here, you pretty much have to do it yourself. These aren't complicated to open up but you'll have to make the seals yourself, they're made of leather so you'll have to get your hands on an old belt.

OK good to know.

The leather wont be an issue!

I work with it all the time and have lots new andfo different weights and i can slit down if needed. That sounds like an intersting challenge.

http://plinkercases.ca/

I also have a friend in Gueplh who has a leather product outfit who has made leather seals for nulcear reactors! Thye had to meet some insanely high specifications for sure.

Airgun spares in UK seems to actually sell a lot of the parts still so I will see what I can do.

I assume the springs are under no or minimal compression when it is uncharged so you dont need any special tools to open the cylinders etc and get the springs out and in.

Hmmmmmm .....like I need another project but you have pricked my curiousity.

Thanks again.

You will need a spring compressor. While you may be able to open being very careful, closing it down will prove a lot harder.
You can make one cheap with a piece of pipe and a pipe clamp found in most hardware store. Mine took about 5 min to make and cost 20$ or 30$.

Doc could you send me a picture if your spring -compress-o-matic pipe rig?

I aleady have some long bar clamps made out of black pipe and a friction and screw clamp fitting that are fully adjsutable over the pipe length.

That may do.....

Hi Plinkercases!

I made leather cup seal for a old Webley junior several years ago. I tried different methods but I finally used one that shape the cup with a jubilee clip (pipe clamp). At the time I was able to find a site with instruction but it seems that I cannot find the same now.

On the other hand I found two sites that give pretty good info.

http://www.airgunforum.net/agf/index.ph ... opic=16284

http://www.airgunbbs.com/showthread.php ... iston-seal

Have fun.
