Hate to say it, but it sounds like you might be better off shooting an air rifle. I took up modifying a pistol int a carbine (my Brocock Atomic in .22") largely as a result of a shoulder injury followed by an elbow injury. Holding a light rifle is just so much easier than a pistol in a one-handed grip, even if that light rifle weighs more than twice what the competition pistol does.
This is probably where I ought to be going. There are a few reasons why I'm not ready to go there yet, though:
- I like the challenge of shooting 2-handed with a pistol.
- I don't have the time or the $$$ to be traipsing out to meets, or even a range, on a regular basis.
- I also have storage challenges. My entire collection currently fits into a desk drawer.
- I have nowhere to expand my little shooting range. A rifle seems like absurd overkill at between 15 and 20 feet, depending on whether I feel like moving the exercise bike!
- My 1377 is already accurate enough at 4 pumps, that it's a little boring to shoot at times.
Still, that Hawke scope was really cool. I would love to put one on a rifle.
What rifle would you recommend, given the following priorities:
- Very quiet
- Light weight
- Non-PAL
- Light, adjustable (or easily moddable) trigger
- No springers or gas pistons (due to my shoulder trouble)
- Scope rail provided or available as an inexpensive option
- Under $500 (preferably under $200) before scope.
- A repeater would be interesting, as long as it still had a nice single-action trigger.
