Hi,
A while ago I came across a 2 parts article on the Instinctive shooting method.( http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2006/10/ ... gun-part-1) Essentially this method consist of shooting aerial targets without aiming. Traditionally this is done with a Daisy Red Ryder without the sights. One of the main advantage is that you can see the BB going through the air (if you look hard enough, have a very good vision and the background is right). I thought that this type of shooting would be a good practice for my trap shooting so I bought a Daisy Red Ryder. Well the stock is meant of a child it is way to short for an adult. So I bought a replacement stock (from Cief AJ) on the net, It help a bit but is still to small.
What would be a good air rifle to practice instinct shooting (around 375 fps, adult stock, not to expensive)
Thanks
Guygeorges

I've been practicing instinct shooting using a Daisy Model 25 because is single stroke. I also have used an Umarex 3 Morph gas jobby so I can rapid fire.

I started at 3 yards, then moved to 5 yards. My favorite target for this is a pie pan..... or a while 8x11 sheet of paper.
When the groups shrink, I go for smaller targets.

This is a hoot with a blowback pistol which enable "double-tapping" or rapid fire.

I'm still new at it and need to practice more often.

I remember that blog post. I'm still having a hard time believing they could hit a BB in the air with another BB... Hitting a BB would be hard enough while the BB and yourself are standing still!

You can’t buy a single airgun for everything. Golfers use many different clubs, airgunners need more than one gun

How about a Crosman 1077. It's as pellet rifle, so It'll be more accurate (not that it matters in instinctive shooting - merely "adjust" your instincts :) ); It's a semi-auto, so you can 12-tap if you like; and it's as cheap as a decent rifle can be.

https://www.amazon.ca/Crosman-Repeat-Bl ... ssman+1077

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B001BR2WAW/ref ... 4WN4J2KKHR

Warning: The pages above are products fulfilled by Amazon. Others on Amazon.ca sell this rifle seemingly a bit cheaper (but shipping is free with Amazon), but some of them are US suppliers. Rumour has it this particular rifle can occasionally be halted at the border because it is well known (in the US) as a PAL-rated rifle (which it is in the States). I suggest you buy Canadian.

I would buy a simple Red Ryder BB gun and remove the sights. Hold the rifle at ready and have a friend toss pie plates or clay birds (trap) up for you.

Personally, I learned by shooting trap. It was too easy to hit everything with the 12ga. shouldered, so I started with the gun at ready, horizontal to my body at waist level. Some people would call it "snap" shooting.

This was done both at Cold Creek oh so long ago when it was open, and on my land up North where shooting No. 6 shot in the air was no bother to anyone.

One of the old gun writers also taught this technique both with rifles and handguns. He used a cheapo BB gun and he would take a pair of pliers and yank off the sights first thing. Distraction to the eye he said.
That guy could hit a penny tossed in the air 95% of the time. It was uncanny.
