PEEK - Polyether Ether Ketone .... It's harder and tougher than Delrin (acetal).... useful for valves with large throats at high pressure, where Delrin isn't up to the job, and extrudes into the throat.... It takes less energy to knock open at the same load, too, because it compresses less.... Being harder, not great at low pressures, and you have to machine it very accurately, of course....

I have a few inches of 1" OD Ertalyte (polyethylene terephthalate or PETP) purchased from Sabic Polymershapes:
https://www.sabicpolymershapes.com/poly ... f120c.html
If you don't mind turning that down for what you need I could mail you a couple of inches. I found it more than adequate at 3,000psi in a HiPAC valve face application where delrin was bubbling and distorting to the point of failure. After a year I saw no change in the Ertalyte compared to when it came off the lathe, but it seals perfectly with moderate pressure. I've also used it for one poppet and it worked fine there at around 1,200psi with a shallow conical face against a matching polished brass lip about 1.5mm broad, showed zero leaking after weeks without shooting. Probably a bit softer than PEEK.

They sell PEEK as well of course, but unless they have a small cut-off handy (salesmen rarely know such stuff as they don't go into the warehouse and look in the scraps bin) it'd be an 8' minimum or something like that.

Thanks Gerard, the reason I'm looking for the 1/2 rod is that I plan on making a few valve seats for my BT65's. I don't have a lathe so the closer I can get to.505" OD the better. I'll look into getting a piece from a local manufacturer.
