Post subject: Mystery Goo/Pump Linkage

Has anyone ever come across this powdery white stuff on valve threads? The valve hasn't been opened before. Possibly factory thread seal? Corrosion...? The threads seem fine underneath the white stuff & it cleans off easily.
Also, any ideas on fixing a worn pump linkage hole?
(ps-Crosman 2289. Yes, I should have ditched the roll pin long ago!)

At first glance it looks like light corrosion. I personally never heard about thread locker or sealant being applied to the pneumatic guns valves. You can easily clean that with a steel or brass wire brush. Then apply a film of Pellgun or ND 30W motor oil on the threads and O-ring before putting it back together.

As for the pump arm, either replace it (and get a solid pin and some moly paste :wink:

) or have your current one re-drilled and a custom bushing made to fit inside it. Some Crosman pumpers (39x, C9A among others) have that bushing, and correctly lubed, they last forever. My 0.02$
