Where to find reasonable priced Walnut? Not looking for exhibition grade blanks or anywhere near...

Couple small projects coming up that will need it. Biggest piece I need will be about 3"X3"X14"- even an old table leg would turn the trick- if I could find one without burning up a paycheque to do it...

Ideas anyone?
thx in advance...

Windsor Plywood often has some smaller pieces of walnut available.... worth a drive by to check it out....

X2...and some bigger pieces too. Last time I looked, the local Windsor had black walnut chunks large enough for rifle stocks and priced around the $40 mark. Also had Zebra wood and quite a few other species.

Local Windsor Plywood is a terrific hardwood supply outfit. I've made many bows from Maple and Birch 1" x 2" or 1"x3". Have to go through the stack - most often only 1 or 2 in 50 is good enough for a bow, but those self-bows are still being used, 20 years later.
They also run huge pieces of hardwood - slabs off huge trees, maple and walnut as well as smaller pieces, of course.

Try Lee Valley (leevalley.ca). The have pepper mill blanks at 2.5" x 2.5" x 14".
They ship and they might have a location close to you as well.
