For those who haven't tried it, a sash clamp with some kind of "keep the rifle in place" arrangement is a great spring compressor. Here's mine:

Good idea! But knowing me I'd probably just duct tape the gun to my pipe clamp :roll: .

There's a spring compressor shown from the shot show in April Firearms News. It clamps to the scope grooves :shock:

Dovetail don't offer much clamping power. I be afraid of it slipping.
