Oh, okay. I had read there were licensing involved but I wasn't sure at all about the power/velocity limits. And thanks for the other heads-up. I'll be sure to abide by it.

Thanks for sharing the links! As ITGUY says we have to be very careful here not to break the 500fps rule with pistols unfortunately. However, for tuning up to that level any help is appreciated, plus the grip shaping is great info as well. I'm really reluctant to mess with mine because I really like the checkering on it as is. In regards to comparing it to the 2240, I have the same grip frame as the 2240 on my 1322. The 2240/1322 grip is thinner, and I suppose I like it better, mostly for one reason. The Cp-1m grip is shaped in such a way that you naturally want to hold the gun pointing high on the target. You have to bend your wrist more than the natural placement to put the gun on target. I've seen on one project thread on a different forum that a guy shimmer up the back end of the tube and action in the grip in order to make it more natural. He had to do some work on the grip by the trigger to make it all fit nicely but it turned out well in my opinion. I'll try and find a link for it.
Other than that I find the grip pretty good, others will have other opinions since our hands are all different.

That's great you've ordered a couple ITGUY! Will be great to see what you think of them and any modifications you make.

I like how the checkered grip looks a lot more than my smooth grip. But the smooth grip was all that was available from mrodair where I bought mine. The smooth grip on the CP-1"M" is supposed to be longer, but I've never held the standard grip to know which of them I prefer. I totally agree about the unnatural hold these grips seem to make a person use, though. Maybe that's what's wanted for 1-handed target pistol competition but for the shooting I like to do, I use a two-handed hold and the bottom "shelf" makes this unnecessarily difficult. So the shelf will be the first thing to go. I hope that alone will be enough because my woodworking skills leaves quite a bit to be desired!

I've been thinking similarly, my woodworking tools and skills both have a lot to be desired, so if I do anything I'd probably look first at taking off the shelf. If I could shim the tube up a bit that'd be great as well if I didn't have to ruin the checkering to do it. Hard to avoid though as I'd have to sand everything and stain it. Not sure how that would be possible without doing away with the checkering.

Just to confirm, are the CP-1 and CP-1M PAL rated ( over 500 FPS)?

Nope, the 22 version has a rating of 400fps on the box and the 177 version has 500fps. That's why I ordered the 22 just for less chance of trouble at customs.

It seems even rated at 500fps is ok, as my qb78 was rated at 500fps and they didn't ask for a pal for it.

Just a word of warning I should have mentioned earlier. The Silesia shop neglected to put a receipt or value of the gun on the shipping box. I think this is probably why mine got stuck in customs for awhile. I got some pictures from Pelsby on the forum here, of the box with the specifications on it and also sent my copy of my receipt to customs by email, along with my tracking number and the customs port it was in. The next day it was released, so I'm not sure what it was that did the trick. I would recommend asking the shop to just be honest and put the gun price and the shipping price clearly on the box, could save a lot of trouble.

I took a spring out of a ball point pen and replaced the factory spring I just cut it to the same length and squished that end to get it to fit in the hole in the sear. Works great now, no creep just nice easy single stage trigger. I'm happy! I also ordered a laser sight, hopefully that will be easier to zero in on the bullseye.

I've seen the QB57 rated as 600 fps in .177 here in the US- I'm wondering if the 750 fps is actually on the box or in their ads?

I've gone into my CP1 and found it to be an easy pistol to work on. Like wesb2007 said above, I set the trigger adjustment screw to bear against the retainer pin instead of the sear, although some folks have gotten good results doing it the other way. I replaced the spring with a lighter one and after polishing everything, it's at 15 ounces and the break is clean- although it is single stage. I also found the TP was misaligned so I corrected that. A little more info on the trigger and correcting the TP misalignment is HERE. Some info on 2-stage trigger mods and reshaping the stock is HERE.

Just wondering if you did any trimming of the hammer spring to make it more efficient? Mine doesn't seem to be getting many shots out of a cartridge

Once I rig up a way to shoot further away from the chronograph without putting a bullet into it I'll put a fresh co2 cartridge in and record shot count and fps. Has anyone else on here tuned their pistol for a good shot count?
