A 12-shot repeater is more enjoyable than a single-shot rifle IMHO.

I am also fortunate, my neighbours and myself all belong to the same range. A baffle box will do alot to quiet things down, you can see them at some shooting ranges. Baffle boxes are usually filled with gravel so if any rounds are discharged higher than the window allowed they cannot maintain their trajectory and go a great distance. They are actually required I think when a range is a certain distance from the highway.
