Good day Guys, looking for something for backyark plinking, At beginning I was thinking Benjamin Maximus FAC .22, I liked the way it designed, but it was too loud, so have to change.

Here's my thoughts:

Benjamin maximus euro .177
Benjamin trail NP2 .22
Crosman Phantom NP .22

I have a Crosman 1322, normally pump 4 to 5 times, I think it was ok, please share some idea if anyone has experiences on the above models, much appreciate :D

Even a euro spec Benjamin Maximus will be loud.

I'm lucky both my neighbours are gun friendly. But even my Umerex Steel force ( 400 FPS BB ) with a regulated 750 PSI HPA tank. They hear it pretty good. My Maximus at about 800 FPS and its is loud. Euro Maximus is just one tuned under 12 FPE. Its quieter than the 20 FPE but still loud.

You can make things call range mufflers to help quiet the snap. ( padded box you shoot thru )

Not familiar with these air rifle... but as a rule of thumb for backyard shooting
- Keep it under 500 fps, it will be quieter
- Double-check your municipal bylaws

If you live inside a Canadian Municipality, it might be illegal for you to discharge a sub-500fps air rifle in your back yard. If you live inside a municipality, it is illegal for you to discharge a >500fps air rifle. They are considered firearms, no different than shooting a 12 bore or .300 magnum in your back yard.

Since you are concerned about noise, I assumed you live within a municipality.

What's with the municipality thing? Must be just in certain areas you are speaking of. Municipalities out here in Saskatchewan are loaded with firearms, we have bounties on coyotes etc. No trouble that way. Cities are a different story.

This is the exact advice that I was going to give.

In Dalhousie, NB I can legally shoot airguns in my backyard but I don't shoot PAL rated air rifles because their report draws unwanted attention.
But in Bathurst, NB I'm not allowed to shoot any airguns in my backyard.
So I guess I'm going to have to setup a short target range in my garage.

I have a Benjamin Trail All Weather in a non-PAL version.
I like it, cheap to shoot, .22 cal, little vibration and accurate.
And because it's non-PAL it's relatively quiet.
But its a bit heavy.

Biggest thing is, do it safely. Make a GOOD pellet trap, don't aim at them or anywhere unsafe. If the neighbors see you doing it safe, and your respectful. Nothing will happen.

Talking to all the neighbours who could see or hear you shooting, might be a good first step.

What you don't need is a complaint to the police of "someone shooting gun" by an Anti-Gun OR a concerned neighbour who thinks they "hear gun shots".
