I picked up a basically brand new Crosman Phantom .22 495fps for $50, couldn't pass it up. I've already picked up the stronger B18-00-4D spring but noticed that the original low-power 3-tiered spacer won't fit. Do I need to trim it or am I missing something? I have it installed without the spacer and it seems pretty strong.

P.S. Yes, I have my PAL.

Won't fit meaning the the spring will coil bind? I've never heard of this so please elaborate what exactly is going on. If possible post a pix of the piston viewing inside the slot, the spring and spacer all laid out so I can verify everything is normal.
Also, w/o the spacer the sear can catch on the spring and bend it. Not a big deal but not ideal and no doubt catches randomly changing the velocity shot to shot.
You also no doubt have a long piston, meaning short stroke, so if you want more power that can be cut down or replaced.
