The other day I corrected a slightly droopy barrel by shaving the breech seal but it cost me 22 fps....today.....just for the heck of it I stuck an American penny in the bottom of the piston ...reassembled everything....well molyed of course....and ended up with a 17.4 fps increase average over 3 sets of 10 shots..... :D ....here's a group at 15 yards..1 inch CTC.....no scope and WAY too much coffee......still....what do you want for a penny?
Crosman Phantom .177 pal. rated

So would a Canadian penny only give 80 percent of 17 FPS improvement?

Spring guns I use PVC pipe. Totally take the twang away and then just a deep thud when you shoot. What ever it takes to make a gun shoot better. :) :) I wonder what 2 or three pennies would do? American penny, Is that you Donald trying to get more bang for a buck?

I tried a fairly thin spacer behind my phantom spring.Maybe three pennies size and the gun would just bind and not catch.Never tried smaller.I think these full power springs are just about maxed out for a start.

Very true. I have never tried with a full power spring or do I feel a need. To much pcv and they will not catch either. Got to find that magic spot. CHEERS!
