I just got recently a new QB78 in 22 cal, non pal as per specs.
Burn in time, still have couple CO2 cartridges and some pellets left, have some tanks from my paintball guns but slowly my mind getting drifted towards the air conversion? Still can't decide, any advise more then welcome.
Wife went for a two weeks trip and I got kind of bored in my basement and pulled my wallet for a pal license.
So, I believe I am ready to start modding now, I am an archery tournament shooter long distances, let me see how can I transfer my skills to a new game. I would like to rebuild this little gun for most accuracy and consistency.
Looking for parts suppliers and noticing USA sources getting worse every day...they don't want our money? Fine, good luck then.
Anybody can recommend me any other sources worlwide?
What mods, what parts? Also an airgun club or range in GTA (greater Toronto area), I live North of 407 in Aurora (there is a gun club just 10 minutes from my home, but they would look weird if I would go there with basics...for now :))
thanks in advance

Bob Sterne, or Rsterne on here and the GTA forum has some great threads on Qb78s and 79s. Ribbonstone and Nervous Trigger on the GTA forum are great too.
Putting a bigger transfer port seal is the easiest power mod. Take the old seal out and put a crosman rubber port seal in its place. Just that one few second mod gave me over 100 fps increase. You can buy a drop block from canadashootingsupply.ca ( http://www.canadashootingsupply.ca/qb78-drop-block.html) and cut the threads off the front of your tube and replace your front cap with it, drilling holes in the tube to fasten it. This allows you to put a regulated hpa 13ci tank on it. Or you can buy this fitting http://www.canadashootingsupply.ca/qb-o ... r-kit.html
and do a reverse tank setup, cutting your forestock back to make room for the tank.
Other power mods involve taking the valve out, removing the filter and piercing pin, and cutting some slots in the valve for more air flow. There is other options, like making a minivalve etc, but looking at the threads on here and other forums are a great way to get an idea of what are your options. All the best to you!
I've converted mine to hpa with a reverse 88g co2 cartridge as a hpa tank. Very pleased with it!

how to do a quick airtank disconnect or where else to put the pressure gauge?...for case want to have both...
I may have couple co2 tanks if possible to convert to pressured air tank, have also but bigger OD airtank but that one would need to be connected with a hose

Here is my Qb78 setup. Still needs some finishing on the stock but I'm loving it even as is. I get 27 good shots with h&n 21 gr., averaging 793fps.
The reverse setup keeps it from being front heavy and it is probably the cheapest setup. The ASA has a 1/8 npt hole for the pressure gauge. You can buy 3000psi gauges cheap off aliexpress as well as the ASA and one way disconnect. Hortman.ca has high pressure tees if you can't find something local. Make sure they are rated for at least 2000psi. I can give you links to the parts I bought on aliexpress if you want and you could use a 13ci tank instead of the 88g cartridge I'm using with hpa, which would allow you to regulate it. They are also available very cheap on aliexpress along with regulators.

Here is a crazy cheap 13ci option that is fillable to 4500psi with a choice of a 800psi or 1800psi regulator:
Paintball PCP Air Tank Cylinder 4500psi/30MPA 0.2L/0.35L/0.45L HPA High Compressed Air Bottle M18*1.5 regualtor 800/1800psi

Note that those 4500 psi bottles are all 61mm OD, and will NOT fit the QB tank block.... They are much heavier wall, and will weigh a LOT more than the standard 3000 psi 13 CI bottles.... In addition, you will have to Hydro them every 5 years, assuming you can find someone to do that, whereas the 3000 psi bottles, being under 2" diam. do not need Hydrotesting....

Good point! I was just looking at that! A 1500 or 1200psi regulator would probably be more useful as well, depending how much power you want.

Thanks wesb2007 can you give me please the bill of material

I just ordered a repeater kit from US and in mean time I shall decide do I want to keep the CO2 platform or to plan converting to compressed air...
My main concern is controlling myself  not to deep dive further with expenses because I know the sky is a limit and how easy is to get drifted away with a gravity....with my archery stuff I've got to a platoe need a half lifetime just to write down my inventory  . Don't tell my wife

Same as with my archery long range target shooting, my slower 265 f/s bow was more accurate at 90 meters FITA games then any other 330+ speed bow that could not consistently hit the bull eye at 50
My Q:
In velocity consistency (gas pressure propels the - well measured and matching/tuned projectiles) is there a huge contrast between using CO2 vs hpa? Pretty much I don't really care for any - given - gotten - speed but to keep the consistency within tightest tolerance and I will set my distances to that velocity.

Lol, it sure is easy to spend money I these shooting sports!
If you are mainly interested in a tight es, then getting a regulated hpa bottle is probably best, though co2 is pretty consistent at a steady temperature. You just have to rezero on days that are colder or hotter than when you last sighted it in. I'm thinking you'd probably be best off buying a 13ci tank and if you aren't too worried about high velocity, it's cheapest to buy one with 850psi output. You'll get a pile of consistent shots and if you do a bit of valve work you can easily obtain 700-800fps. I believe mine got a max fps of 850 at 800psi with 14.3gr. pellets.
Here is some links:
SPUNKY 13Ci 0.22L Paintball Air quality Tank / Cylinder with 3000psi Mini Regulator
http://s.aliexpress.com/ARbemyi6
(from AliExpress Android) ($62 shipping included)
I'd recommend getting this slide check so you can remove your bottle without having to degass:
SPUNKY Paintball Remote Slide Check Quick Disconnect On/Off
http://s.aliexpress.com/JnYVRNze
(from AliExpress Android)
Here is a picture of a gun with the reverse bottle and slide check. Great idea I think. https://goo.gl/images/FhYj5N
Here is an Asa valve:
Paintball Co2 Compressed Air Fill Adaptor Remote On/Off Asa Adapter w/1500/3000psi Gauge
http://s.aliexpress.com/N7zIzUby
(from AliExpress Android)
1/8 npt male to male elbow: http://www.hortman.ca/shop/index.php?ro ... uct_id=107
You can buy this modified end cap for your gun or drill and tap your original one and put a one way quick disconnect fitting in it.
http://www.canadashootingsupply.ca/qb-o ... r-kit.html
If you don't want to spend the money, and have a drill and 1/8 npt tap you can do the exact same thing with your own. Then buy this one way Foster fitting/quick disconnect:
SPUNKY Stainless Steel Paintball Tank Regulator HPA/N2 One Way Foster Fill Nipple Kit 1/8-27 NPT
http://s.aliexpress.com/RNJRnMNF
(from AliExpress Android), or something similar.

You'll want to pick up one of these as well to replace your port seal on your gun. It'll give you a significant boost in fps! Ask them to send it letter mail, just contact them via email and they will give you a code for free shipping. http://www.canadashootingsupply.ca/cros ... -seal.html

For now I don't worry for the temperature spikes, winter is at the doorsteps and pretty much all my shooting will happen in my basement for next couple months. I cannot justify spending 500 bucks for the indoor membership in these two gunclubs in my neigborhood, kind a shame both just 10 minutes drive from my home...
The conversion to hpa will be my winter project.
Thanks for the info.

If you are not worried about temp, and mostly shooting targets, the easiest would be to just buy that bulk fill end cap from Canada shooting supply and connect one of your co2 tanks to it with something like this.
New Paintball PCP Coil Remote Hose (2.5M) With Slide Check Quick Disconnect
http://s.aliexpress.com/miAFZ32y
(from AliExpress Android)

If you decide to use air you can connect a regulated bottle the same way. That's the cheap and easy way to give you lots of shots!

Now you just started pushing me off the cliff :)
These what I found in my basement from time 10+ years when I was taking my boys to paintball games (still have two almost new tippmans I didn't wanted to give away).

Hm, could not place the jpg inside text, anyway, two 12 oz capacity CO2 tanks, and two 48 cu 3000 psi (one PureEnergy CO2 and one Ninja air tanks) with valves and gauge.

To start with I may want to replace the coil to new, during years the material fatique could weaken it internally, I don't want to play with that, aliexpress is a way to go.
One more thing,
In my way from work I have one divers shop, the other about same distance further up North. Not sure how much they would charge to fill the air, or maybe getting a pump is a better way to go?
