Just reading Hellraizer's Optimus thread and saw this mentioned so had a quick look in the app store. How does it work then? Looking at the things you have to enter, I would guess it listens for the shot and impact then works out the velocity. Would that be right? If so, I suppose it only has a chance of working if it's very quiet surroundings.

Yep, I tried it for a while but without a chrony to verify it was pretty hard to know when it was registering properly [emoji5]. Sometimes it would work but you never really knew.
If you borrowed someone's chronograph you could calibrate it for the environment you were shooting in then always use it in that same spot. Otherwise pretty useless.

Don't waste your time. Run several tests, indoors with 2 iPads and an iPhone imitation thing that runs on the google OS, all sitting side by side with attention to all the proper setup procedures.

Got different readings on all 3 devices, often with a huge discrepancy between them, all in a non uniform pattern.

Apps is totally useless. Developer has a potentially good idea but he does not put effort into improving app, instead seems to rely on suckers paying for the "pro" version. I view this app as a scam.
