Hey everyone.

Was curious if anyone has a Diana 24C (believe the C stands for Carbine or Compact) with the shorter barrel in .177 and 495FPS? If so, would it be ok for dispatching small pests like field mice and gophers? I wouldn't be hunting anything bigger than a gopher.

Also, would this rifle be too small for a 5'11 person who weights 170 pounds?

Thanks for any advice.

Your size really does not matter. Many smaller stature shooter shoot much bigger with great proficiency. Mice sure. Not sure the size of your gophers but I would not want to you use 177 at sub pal (500fps) on the ground hogs we have here. Tough buggers.

IMHO, the little Richardson's or Beldings would be OK for sub 500fps at close ranges. Columbia Ground Squirrels being about 1/2 the size (large males) of prairie dogs and a bit much for sub-500fps.

On the other hand, my HW97 .177, at 880fps was doing well on Columbia Ground squirrels to 56yards, using Predator Pellets.
