Get a double edge safety razor and save money for the rest of your life.
I get good blades for $0.17 each, they last about 5 or more shaves, and give a better shave than any fancy vibrating, 10 blade, over priced piece of marketing crap.

Ever wonder why Gillette doesn't make double edge safety razors anymore? Because there is no money to be made.

Do an eBay search for "adjustable double edge razor". There is one that is a copy of the Merkur Futur. A Merkur is about $100, the clone is under $10. Or look for vintage Gillette razors, they work great.

Thanks Woody, sounds like your a satisfied customer , as far as the handle I have some older ones , these could work you think, I`ll see if my Gillette Mach 3 can be accomadated. The double edged one could be a problem till I find 1.

17 Cents sound good.
Thanks.

I think your not a Harry`s user right now but I still appreciate your comments.

An old Mach 3 won't work. Those are cartridge style razors. Google "double edge safety razor", you'll see what I mean.
Ask an older family member if they still have one laying around. I got a nice Gillette Fat Boy adjustable that way. A nice double edge costs about $30-40, unless your order one like the one I suggested above.

I used to hate shaving with cartridge style razors, dreaded it. I now enjoy shaving with a double edge. It's more of a ritual than a chore.

Also known as a butterfly razor. I too have switched from cartridge style to double edged safety blades. I buy 'feather' brand off amazon for a good price.

Thanks for the post.
I have been looking for a good razor as the quality of the overpriced cartridge razors has dropped dramatically in recent years. I learned to shave with a safety razor and never had a problem with razor burn and nicks like I do today.
My son gave me a Merkur Progress Adjustable for Xmas. Nice razor, good close shave without the irritation.
For those braver than I, have a look at Rolls Razor. Ingenious device but more than a little intimidating when assembled for final use. This was marketed for the traveling public of the day, ie: ship/train.
Use only when at dock or when the train is in the station.

Check out "badger and blade" forum for everything you want to know about shaving with a double edge safety razor. Gillette created the multiblade cartridge for the affluent north american market. Gillette even has an excellent single blade disposable razor for sale in India, that cannot be sold in north america. Some stores have tried to sell them in north america, only to be sued by gillette. It's called the Gillette Guard.
I changed from a multiblade cartridge razor to double edge shaving a year ago. Once you develop the skill at using a safety razor, say goodbye to irritation, razor bumps, etc. Swmbo says my skin is much healthier looking. The most important thing is prep, involving application of shaving soap/cream applied with a brush and massaged into the beard. No more canned goo smeared on with your fingers.
I shave every morning with an original 1954 Gillette Super Speed, made of solid nickel plated brass. Blades, soap and brush are all new manufacture. I get a barber shop quality shave every morning. My 5 o'clock shadow shows up around 8:00 pm. When I was using cartridges, I'd be stubbly by 4pm.
Warning: switching to double edge shaving often results in regular visits to antique and second hand shops. I'd be embarrassed to say how many vintage razors I own. Most were bought for under $10.
