Hey All

I'm a long time "powder burner" who has slowly become obsessed with PCP Air Guns over the past few years. I have a decent little collection of Air Rifles, (listed in my signature), but I am currently looking for a scope for my Wolverine II 303 Hi-Lite.

While I prefer Nightforce, Leupold or Vortex for my powder guns, I have found some really neat alternatives in the airgun world. (In fact I've been amazed that a $500 airgun scope can be nearly as clear and sharp as a $3,000 Nightforce!)

I have a pair of MTC Vipers mounted on my S510 and FX Impact and they are very nice scopes. I also have a Hawke Airmax 30SF 6-24x50 on my Air Wolf MCT that I really like. I am leaning towards another Hawke 30SF but I was wondering if anyone has any alternatives I should consider. Any ideas are appreciated as this place is clearly a wealth of air gun knowledge!

Thanks

With scope choice for a particular rifle, much depends on the prospected use. If big game hunting, say fox, coyote, 6-24X or such is likely too much power & is not needed.

A nice light, seemingly good quality scope is the Leapers 3-12X with etched reticle & 1/2 mil. slashed between the mil dots.

I've had a couple of these for 5 or 6 years and they have been super scopes.

I think this is the one. 30mm tube.

I’ve been using Leapers UTG rings on scopes for ages and always love the result. In fact, I find it hard to get rings for under $100 that match a set of $20 UTG rings.

I’ll give their scopes a try. Thanks for the advice.

I have the leapers/utg mentioned and it served me well on my .25 at 44. I don’t dial my scope for elevation so with the 10 mildots it has it enabled me to reach out there quite a ways for a bb gun as some friends say. They didn’t realize the power these “bb guns “ have until I showed some pics of big ghogs that were shot with the .25 and my .22 pcps. I’ve bought some better glass a few months ago and the view from the utg is not quite the same for me. I’ve been reading quite a bit about the Tac Vector and Discovery scopes recently with people having a lot good things to say for the price. I’m waiting for a Tac Vector Marksman series fixed 10x so I’ll see what all the hype is about. Probably gonna try the 4.5-18 either Tac Vector or Discovery also in future. I like the idea of having numbers for reference on reticle as it was easy to mix up mildots on the utg. Maybe something else for you to check into. Good luck and nice collection of pcp “ bb guns “ you’ve got! Lol.

Burris is one of those companies who make amazing products but I only ever think about when I need rings. Never used their glass before but LOVE their mounts.

I've had history with CenterPoint, Hawke, Bushnell & Burris. For lack of a better expression - initial 3 = 1080p Burris = 4K

Are you in Canada? Stocky Stocks in Florida, USA is having a big sale on their Hawke optics. Got a Hawke Frontier 5-3x50 TMX for less than $500 shipped. Right now their Airmax 6-24x50 is less than $300.

I went with the Airmax 30SF 6-24 from a Canadian Vendor. Will report on the clarity when I get it mounted :)

Met a countryman of mine, also a Filipino but now a resident of California, shopping for a Daystate. A first timer that fella he could hardly catch up what I was saying about scopes and PCPs, lol for the 3rd time!

Hello! The problem of choice is a very difficult problem. It all depends on what airgun is used, how far to shoot, what budget size... I chose for my airgun Crosman Nitro Venom scope atn x-sight II hd 3-14x (https://www.atncorp.com/smart-hd-weapon-sight). This scope is relatively inexpensive and reliable.
