I have two Crosman Silhouette 1701P pistols detuned for Canada. I transformed one into a carbine and kept the second one as a pistol.

Having a lot of airguns, I tried to make a rotation and shoot them once in a while. The problem is I cannot always remember how they were performing previously and how many shots I could get from a fill.

During the weekend I shot both of them starting with the carbine setup. It seems that I was shooting and shooting again and there was always air left. I lost count but I think I got over 100 shots.

So when I filled the one kept as a pistol and started shooting I was really surprised that after 40 shots it was nearly depleted.

I refilled both and went to have dinner. When I came back I discovered that the needle of the pressure on the gauge of the pistol configuration was at mid-point. I put soapy water around the filling nipple and the gauge and couldn’t see a leak there. I guess it could come from the valve and this is the reason I am asking if somebody knows how to disassemble the 1701P.

Thanks.

R-Gun Pete

Did you do a balloon test? to see if it coming out the barrel, thru the valve from maybe a leaking valve stem?

It should be the same disassembly as a Maurader.

I assume it would be drain it, remove the threaded fill adapter, than the gauge. Then remove the grip frame, remove the 2 or 3 valve retaining screws. Remove the bolt probe ( allen key up and thru the bottom ), than remove the rear bolt and breech screw. Then push out the valve and block.

Hi leadslinger.

I was not sure if the info for the Marauder would apply to the Silhouette but if you say that they are similar, in this case, there are several videos.

I used the balloon trick in the past for when I had a leaking Hatsan cylinder but I didn't think to use it to check a barrel leak.

Thanks, I will look into that.
