Great idea! Thanks for posting. No need to even buy anything. Books or prices of 2x4s and a car jack.... and a doorway.

I noticed that the NP strut in my Fury is a beast to compress the short 1/4" to get it installed. My metal spring version is so easy that I can compress the short pre load with my thumb.

I did that. Except I just put a piece of cardboard down ( keep the carpet clean ) and pieces of wood on each end of my door jam.

It works, but there's no hold down. If things start to tilt upwards, for whatever reason, that tube is coming up into your face with some decent energy. That could be a life altering experience, and not in the eat, pray, love kinda way.

Your setup is effective but I don't know how simple it is......By the time you set up your whole apparatus....I can be putting a new seal on my piston......takes me about 5 minutes from start to finish.......reassembly about 10 min.....

Yeah I switched to a bar clamp. Much easier now than the scissor jack.
