Yeah, never heard we need special storage for the pellets.

But I just bought a military style metal ammo box from PA last week ~ looks so nice to put my 'ammo' into a real ammo box ~

Good question.....It IS after all....ammunition....regardless of the power source that propels it....so I'll say yes.....lock it up....but that's just a guess.....you may have to get the answer on that one straight from the horses mouth as they say.....would be be interesting to know though.... :D

Its lead... So do you lock up your marbles, or ball bearings because can be shot from a sling shot, or potatoes from spud gun?

Was found on this site....

Quote:
i called an information officer a few months ago and he stated to treat them as a firearm,
having them locked up and out of view (IE: in the trunk)

Have a guncase for both pistol & rifle so the public dont get confused and call it in.
Common sense...if someone see you going to/from your vehicle with a "firearm".

Pellets can be just stored seperately from the rifle/pistol (doesnt need to be locked)

I asked a cop buddy as well, and he laughed. Guess gotta lock up my trays of projectiles for making ammo. I just keep mine in a filing cabinet only because I don't want to play 500 pickup when I drop them off the shelf.

Pellets can just be stored separately from the rifle/pistol and doesn't need to be locked up but
if you have any minors in the house then i would say definitely yes lock them up...

You don't want some dumb kid eating them, otherwise they are harmless.

It looks my metal box will do well in this point as you will need to use some effort ( like cocking a springer ) to open the water sealed top cap. So I don't plan to put a lock on it~

It doesn't appear that any ammunition has to be locked up. You just have to ensure that the ammunition is not readily accessible to where the firearm is stored. Of course "readily accessible" doesn't have a detailed definition. If the ammunition is in a readily accessible area then it has to be locked up either with the firearm or separate.

Canadian Firearms Act
5 (1) An individual may store a non-restricted firearm only if
(a) it is unloaded;
(b) it is
(i) rendered inoperable by means of a secure locking device,
(ii) rendered inoperable by the removal of the bolt or bolt-carrier, or
(iii) stored in a container, receptacle or room that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into; and
(c) it is not readily accessible to ammunition, unless the ammunition is stored, together with or separately from the firearm, in a container or receptacle that is kept securely locked and that is constructed so that it cannot readily be broken open or into.

I like that idea. Specially the water tight seal.
I'm using a Makita Silver drill carrying case(10"x10"x8).
It's not quite big enough for all my ammo but does okay for transporting what I need for the day.
Do you have a link where you bought yours?

Princess auto, or surplus shops. Just look for surplus ammo cans. They all have a rubber seal to keep it water tight.

I bought it from the PA on HWY 401 and Mc.Cowan ( near Scarborough town center ). There were 2 there, after I picked one, only one last remained. This is the new product, others in the shop looks like the real surplus, used and with some rust here or there....
