Has anyone had any experience with a regulator in an AT-44? My sweet spot with my gun is 150BAR. Above and below that it's is quite inconsistent for FPS. Also if you do have one where did you purchase it?

Regulating the gun at 150 bar wouldn't leave you many shots, unfortunately.... Sounds like you have other issues that need to be addressed....

I was under the assumption that if I filled my tank to 200bar and regulated it's output to somewhere around 150bar I would get more shots and all of them would be more consistent??? B4 I shot my crony I noticed the consistency of my FPS were tightest around 150bar. I have gone over the gun for issues and leaks and she's sealed tight.

If you regulate to 150 bar, and assuming about the same power level, you will only be able to use about 50 bar of air from the tank.... An AT-44 usually can use about 70-80 bar of air from the tank and return all the shots within a 4% ES, which is an acceptable range of velocities for 50 yard work.... Therefore, you would expect about 2/3rds of the number of shots at the same power.... Now if you regulate the gun to 120 bar, and tune it properly, you would have at least 80 bar of air available, so your shot count should stay the same, and certainly the ES should be down to about 1% or so.... In order to accomplish that, however, you should tune the gun for a velocity slightly below what the gun currently shoots at 120 bar, and even then you will need to give up some reservoir volume for the regulator itself and the plenum to feed it.... In tube regulators are best when used to deliver high shot count at low-medium power....

Thanks for the info!!!! I was WAY off in what I gathered from reading some Google returns. Maybe I just need to spend more time with this gun??? It is the least used gun I own. Maybe because of the hand pump.

Do you fill to 1600psi or regulate at 1600psi?

Fill to 3,000psi and reg to 1600psi. Seems to allow the best compromise of shot count, power and valve closing forces.

Thanks Walter :) Can you suggest where I can purchase a regulator? I'd like to give one a try. Seems worth it....
I have two spare cylinders to play with. I set one up with a non PAL valve for my son but he never uses it.

Regulators are the way to go!

I get 48 shots out of my .22cal at44 @ 780 fps with extreme spread of 9 fps, and that using a 180 cc cylinder. It's nice in the cold as well, my velocity doesn't really drop just my shot count does.

I use these, price was good and had them in hand in 7 days.
Preset at 1600psi and are adjustable.
Build quality on the 2 that I have is excellent.
