I'm in! 8)
Silverdale is exactly the same travel time NW of me, that The Port Colborne Conservation Club is to my SE. About 15 min, either venue.
For CJN, he'd just have to jump his back fence, and a short walk to Silverdale....

I guess if alot of people agree to it, then we need a coordinator for
the event ...... especially HFT.

I'm guessing that our very own CAFTA BOG would handle the co-ordination of the event.

IIRC, Silverdale recently bought an adjacent property, east of the main range, with some bush area, that would allow any potential FT events to be held well away from the noise of the powder burners - assuming that Silverdale management approves that area for such use.

Hey Sniper,

Please help me out here. Are you a member at Silverdale and you are encouraging some of the other member to host a shoot there?

If not you, who has suggested a match at Silverdale?

Who would be organizing it? Some of the FT regulars would likely be happy to assist in bringing targets and setting up lanes if their help is needed.

Bush lanes will have to be cleared in advance.

A match at Silverdale would be super. Some of the regular FT shooters would likely come and support the venue. It would also allow us to meet some interested shooters and encourage them to attend the regular monthly matches at Port Colborne and Elmira/Waterloo.

Are there any active members of Silverdale that shoot, or have shot FT?

Thanks for the heads up on this.

Hi CJN,
No, I'm not a member yet but i've been wanting to be a member there
since last summer but I can't find the time yet ....

Actually we (me & Seth) had some discussion the other night about
different ranges then we got to talk about FT shoot then I asked him
if it's a good idea we'll have it at Silverdale .... then he said why not ...
then I said OK then .... lol ... I'll post it at the forum ... well then ....
here it is .... whewwww .... I guess I coulda said it in two words ... lol...

He was mentioning about the bush lane perhaps would be good for
HFT ..... no ? ...

I personally would enjoy this location to come out to since it is much closer for me (and everyone in the GTA) than Port Colborne. Weekends in the summer are busy enough, so shortening the drive for a FT event would be great!

Is Dave Miller still running the joint? As I recall, there were two other brothers...Doug and ???.

I guess good ol' Gus Honsberger (sp?), rangemaster extraordinaire, bit the dust...if he hasn't he must be at least 98 yrs old???? I still remember the explosive arguments he had with fellow members and guests...quite surprised that shots weren't fired!!! I also recall the Niagara Regional Police tactical unit practicing there.....the whistle would blow on the firing line, half would thoughtlessly run to the targets while other members were still firing away with their MP5's...oddly no one was killed!!!

Anyhow, I shot there for a couple of years in the early 1990's.

LOL !!! Dave only thought he was runnin' the joint - LOL.

Silverdale was founded by George Miller back in the late '60s / early '70s. After George's passing, only one of the three sons stepped up to the plate to accept responsibility to continue to run the range, and that was Doug. Just prior to his retirement, Doug and his family built a house, just east of the old clubhouse, and live on the premises now. Doug's daughter and son-in-law, Seth, have opened a gun and shooting supply business in the building that used to be the clubhouse.

Dave, the youngest of the three, moved stateside a few years ago now, and Dennis, the oldest brother, still visits the range to shoot.

Doug and company have made a lot of major improvements to the place in the past couple years, and you would not recognize the place now.

No, it was actually Dave that was running the place while I was there anyhow. He had a small shop there open on the weekends providing ammo and targets plus a few guns. Dennis was absent most of the time and Doug was working. Dave, as I recall, was off on disability at the same time thus allowing him time to 'work' at Silverdale. I must admit, the place looked rather tough at the time.

Whatever happened to Brian Kearsey of St. Anne Sports?
