Any recommendations ? I was looking at a Chrony F1. Cheap and simple.

just picked up a F-1 chrony MASTER. with the readout on a cable it makes it easier to read and minimizes the chances of damage by a stray round. found it easy to use very portable.

They are exactly that, they work great. I have never had any problems with mine........They just don't have the shot memory, separate readout and/or printer that the higher end models do......

My original 15 year old green Chrony was doing fine... right up until it got shot by a .50BMG round.
Now I have a new red Chrony which, other than the color, is about the same as my old green one. With a bit of luck, I'll get at least another 15 years out of "new red".
