Hello all, new member here.

I'm looking to get my first PCP air rifle. I live in a fairly densely populated area (Thornhill, ON) so low db levels are important to me.

I was initially looking at Benjamin Marauder but found out due to it's shrouded barrel is not legal in Canada. The Discovery was also tempting but I think it would be too loud.

The budget is around $600-$900 without scope. I'd like to get 700-950 fps, .22 cal and I plan on using it for target shooting and perhaps one day small game hunting.

Don't have my PAL yet but going for it in January.

Anyone have any recommendations? Much appreciated

You guys crack me up!! The Condor does not come with a THICK barrel.

Seriously as you increase the power with a PCP the noise increases. A hi-powered springer will always be more quiet than a PCP.

You might want to direct your question to D&L or Speciality Shooting they have a solid background in all airguns and their differences.

I have heard the condor is louder that a 22 rim fire.

Eric and Bob are working on making a super quiet new gun based on the 2240, but it is only 500 FPS, the good news is how quiet it is and how many shots per fill you get.

for shooting in populated areas that would be the way to go.

I second the springer being the quietest high power gun you can get, PCP are loud at high power levels, CO2 is even load at high power levels as well.

sounds like you wanting a springer or Bobs new creation if your stuck on PCP/C02

The Condor is not as loud of a rimfire as there is no sonic crack unless you chose to crank it up.

Nitro Pistons are quieter than springers, IMHO.

I lump them into the same category, just different sub classes, I may be wrong in doing so, but seeing as they are for the most part identical except the spring/ piston part it is hard for me to put them into separate categories.

Since sound reducing devices are illegal here, more power = louder, and PCP/CO2 will be louder than a springer. I'd also suggest a springer or a lower powered PCP if you must get a PCP.

The report from a shrouded barreled S400 series gun is no louder than a decent springer like an HW95. My S400-SL in .177, shooting over 1000fps with JSB heavies, makes about the same noise as my TX. The .22 version would be the same.
