Hi all I am in the middle of a big bore build and have a limit on air pressure due to my home made pump 500psi, I have done lots of tests and am very surprised by the fps. I have obtained 618 fps so I ask why is there such a need for high pressure, by the way the gun is .468 with a barrel of 34 inches

I would consider this post a TEASE!!!! more info please!!!!

while a 34" barrel is quite long, as your on HPA I think you my be able to shorten it up a bit (with the limited knowledge of your project in mind)

and im not quite sure what the pic is, but more pics is always great

as far as higher pressures, for me at least, I don't want to fill after each shot, so for example, I may get 20 full power shots from 2500psi down to 1000psi, whereas I suspect your build needs to be filled after each shot to achieve full power shots

more air pressure in a vessel usually means more air on hand ie. compressed air

I see the picture of the valve now, please don't take what I said about "suspecting your build" as a negative, just trying to explain why we like the higher pressures,

I will say this, there are a lot more qualified people to talk to about pressures, builds and big bore guns I say I know just enough to get me in........ the door, lol

how many shots do you get on 500psi and what's your velocity like for them?

1-1/2" I assume that's outside diameter what's the wall thickness?

.468 WOW that's some lead, ball or bullet?
If your using round lead ball that would make them around 154-155gr @ 618fps that's 130fpe at the muzzle...... off of 500psi.....

I think it's pretty cool!

Lets see - .46 calibre at 600fps plus, with round ball or slug & what weight? Is your reservoir restricted to 500psi- or is it & your seals capable of handling at least 1,000psi? More? What is the potential of this gun? Intersting and quite a job during lunch hours. Is someone else keeping watching the time for you?
