I might start a project rifle around the 22xx platform

i recently got a very nice .25 barrel from Gippeto and wanted to attach it to a 2260 tube ( witch i dont have now but can get easy )

a made some testing with a 2240 tube and a highly modded valve and a very strong hammer spring

results were not impressing me but this thing hit quite hard

470 / 480 fps and about 22 usable shot per 12gr co2 using H&N baracuda hunter extreme 28.4g

- does the 2260 use the same valve than the 2240

- is there any other way to get more power than using a hipac ( next logical step i think ) and how much more ?

my other option was to buy a discovery and simply put the barrel on ( but i like the 22xx , so many things can be done to it )

2240/50/60 all use the same valve....

so if i want more power i need more pressure ( hipac )

does a disco valve fit in the tube ?

Yes, the Disco valve fits, but you need to anchor it with 3 screws if you are going to pressurize the tube.... A HiPac doesn't pressurize the tube, only the valve.... If you are going for more than 500 fps, you need a PAL and a 2260 tube as that makes it a rifle.... Using a 2240 or 2250 tube it remains a pistol, regardless of barrel length or adding a stock.... (RPAL required)....

the 2260 tube was the reason ( Pal )

I tough about the hipac because it's an easy way to switch to hpa but if i can pressurize the tube with a disco valve i could use a remote reservoir and place it in the stock ?

what kind of results could i expect with a disco valve ??? 600 - 700 fps ?

Disco valve and 24" barrel, no reason it shouldn't perform like a Disco.... 22 FPE in .22 cal is typical.... (eg. ~800 fps with 15.9 gr.)

Doh .... i should have find out that my self

with a 28.4gr in .25 i should get 590-600 fps .......

and with a 26gr around 615 fps


would it be possible to push it to 700 fps and 30FPE without breaking the bank ?

700fps? Without any trouble once running on air. You're limited by fill pressure, but I know even Bob has managed 46fpe in .25cal running @ a regulated 1800psi. Many folks running disco's at 2400psi with beefed up valve screws.

A stock Disco converted to .25 cal runs in the 30 FPE range because the larger bore gives more "push" to the pellet.... but it uses more air to fill the bigger bore, of course.... My 2560 PCP running 1800 psi regulated shoots at 52 FPE with 25.4 gr. JSB Kings, and very efficiently.... More FPE can be had with heavier pellets and more air used....

good , now i have to decide betwen 2560 and Discovery ..... both are gonna cost about the same to build but the disco should be less trouble ( already a pcp )

I have one of Als .25 cal barrels with a Hipac in a 2260 tube and a stock 2240 valve except for a custom made valve stem. At 2250 psi with .25 cal JSB 's the gun will shoot from 400 fps to 700 fps depending where the RVA is set. If I make a valve 3/4'' longer and port and polish it I am sure there is still more power but I like it just fine as is. I brained a sqirrel with it at around 575 fps at about 15 yds and it flew off the limb like it was hit by George Foreman.
