Got a request from a member for a field holster rig for his rohm rg88 blank/flare gun to keep it handy but under cover while hiking.

In Algonquin..so thats what I named the style..the Algonguin Tanker.

So we came up with this.

Made of harness leather, basket weave stamped, 3-4 coats hand rubbed oil finish.

Rides on the lower rib cage/belly area out from under the arm for through jacket access and wont conflict with pack straps.

Seen here with a broken PPK as the "model".

It will get field tested this weekend.

And...my stomach only sticks out like that when I am holding a camera up to shoot myself in a mirror...really....

Have fun in the bush and may the bears beware.

Nice Cross-draw!

Similar to the holster for military pilots!

First off thanks for the compliments lads.

Yup just like the aviators and tank crew rigs...tried and true design for sure, epsecially if needed to be work over or under jackets and with packs, para shoots etc...or seated in your plane or tank! Hence tanker!

Right handed shot in a magic mirror that switches handing and adds 10 pounds.....

The cross draw worked out better than planned in that the safety snap is just within trigger finger distance so I can get the grip in the notch of my thumb and release the safety with the trigger finger extended and draw to a full grip one motion, one hand...I would like to say I planned it but I think it has to with the pistol geometry - short pistol.... I will try to do it again though on other guns if possible. The snap is placed based on the profile of the receiver and trigger guard so it is away from gun metal in the holster to avoid scratching..unless the holster is lined. But happily this is a trigger finger version of a thumb break in a sense.

I have other 2 tanker rigs on the bench now for guys who want to go walk about with their guns in the bush. One for a 2240 and one for a scoped 1730. These will have an addded strap around the gut, pellet ppuch and/or co2 slides that attached to the base of the tanker and the holster pouch can also detach to go on a belt..so all pieces go on the tanker or on the belt or any combination really. Should be cool. Pic to come perhaps early next week when done. sneek peek below:

He does great work! keeps you involved in the design and sends nice updates on progress. He's doing my 2240 setup above. It's been a fun process.

Field test complete-
It is not only a great holster but a piece of art!!
It was very comfortable under my jacket and around my neck, it stayed in place, and didn't interfere with the 50lb pack I had carried on my back for a week. The last thing I wanted to be doing while encountering a bear is fumbling in my pockets or pack for a bear banger.
I'm pretty sure the bears knew I was "stylishly" packing while backpacking, so they just stayed away!
One slight adjustment will need to be made, to fit my rg88- which is understandable due to the fact that I was in a rush(to get the holster) and he didn't actually have the pistol to work with.
Plinkercases made it perfectly clear that he's not done his job until I am 100% happy with my holster!
Thanks again!
I highly recommend if you want a hand made holster, Plinkercases is the man to go to.
