Post subject: 2240 valve differences ??????

So I spent last night modding my valve and the results were not good??? My old valve performed better??? Upon inspection I found this..........

One valve stem had way more brass making it open no where near the other. Is this another Crosm :butthead:

an detuned part?

I noticed the taper on the valve stem, Is that your mod or is it stock ? Also to answer your question, that much brass inside the valve will most certainly decrease you fps. However if you can turn down the stem to form that taper, you can also turn dtown the brass and taper it also.

Yeah that taper is my mod. Drill chuck and a file

problem now is that was the toughest part of the stem and Im sure I'll break or bend it if I try to turn down the brass.

There is no "detuned" valve for the 2240- the factory uses different suppliers for parts occasionally- it's possible that was one variant.

Yes you can taper down the brass like Joe said you will be fine.
It will allow the CO2 to flow better. :wink:

Well I got crafty with a Dremel and thin diamond saw blade. Spun it slow and cut off the excess brass. Now has the same range of movement as my other valve. Just playing around with the 2260 while I wait for parts.

The length of the brass makes no difference in how far the valve can open.... it takes up a tiny amount of volume, however....

You only want enough of that brass to hold onto that stem. Anything else is taking up volume in your valve. Streamlining, like that on stem really helps movement.
One thing, be careful not to open things up too much from the transfer port to the pellet. Too much volume means less pressure and more time.
