I thought I knew everything about airguns because I spend a lot of my free time here on the forums but I guess I don't.
What exactly is a Crosman 2250 and why would I want one?
What does the number mean? I know the 22 refers to the caliber.

It appears the 2250 is a small CO2 powered .22 cal air rifle with a 14" barrel and a shoulder stock. What are the extra parts for?
Does the 2250 use two CO2 cartridges?
Is it worth the trouble and cost of modifying my 2240?
I was about to order a handful of parts for my 2240.
Maybe I should just buy the kit.

I think that 40 and 50 are referring to the number of shots expected per CO2 cartridge.

Good question.....

2250 is to the 2240 what the 2289 is to the 1322.....longer barrel, couple cosmetic changes and a shoulder stock.

Valve and internals are the same, uses the same 12g cartridge. Velocity can be a little higher due to barrel length.

2250 tube is slightly longer, allowing the fitment of a fore end.

Call it a dress up kit....would be pretty accurate terminology.

I am also looking at getting a 2240 and adding a bunch of parts which will cost over $500 when I get all the brass fittings and up grades.
Would I be better off to start with a 2250?
Is the adjustment valve to adjust the co2 worth the cost, what I read is just not worth it.
Hi Al

2250 in factory trim is rated as being over 500fps...and classed as a pistol in Canada.

Not generally available and would require rpal to purchase a factory version. A detuned and thus non rpal version can be put together from parts. A chrony should be considered as part of the cost.

Will pm you later on velocity adjusters...on the phone here.

The answer to your questions.
As Gippeto stated.

1-- The 2250 only uses 1 Co2 powerlet.
2-- To me it's worth the trouble and cost because I can make my 2240 custom to my liking.
3-- If I was starting over again I would buy the 2250b kit. You can still easily make it custom to you taste.
I have been thinking about another build too.

Take a look in the Air gun Gallery Custom 2240s

You will see that the 2240 is just a skeleton to build on.

Difficult question to answer. From a purely practical view, the only reason to have one would be to complete a 22XX collection.

There is no performance gain from the 2250 tube over a 40 or 60 - all hold a single cart as issued, and share the same valve spec.

Yup, I need one too. . . .

I would really like to get one of those tubular stocks. Any idea where to get one?

Not mine. I can only wish! I just reposted one of jwg's pics to reference the stock I'd like to get.
