Last week I bought a Benjamin model 317 pump pellet rifle from Mr Marvin and it is a fun airifle!
It's my first old Benjamin, and thanks to Tom Gaylord & his "AirGun blog" @pyramydair, I have been able to find some great information about these old AirGuns.

It is truly impressive how these brass, steel & walnut air rifles stand the test of time.
I've begun cleaning the exterior metal and wood with non-detergent motor oil and it is starting to look great!
The inside of this AirGun is working great! A few drops of pellegun oil and the pump cup is working noticeable better after 3 days.

I really had hoped to find a .22 caliber model 312, but the .177 caliber model 317 seems to be a bit rarer, based on what I've read online.
Maybe next year I will look for a model 312 and clean it up next winter.

Thanks for the offer, I haven't spent much time here lately and just saw your reply.
I can't imagine ScottC555 would want to part with his Benjamin 312, at least I wouldnt.

I ended up buying a Crosman 1400 Pumpmaster last month that was made in June 1976, so I now have a great shooting classic .22 caliber multi-pump pneumatic that made of steel & I believe the stock and pump handle is Maple.
The steel outer barrel needs some rust removed, but the pump & valve mechanism was rebuilt and it is shooting like a dream.
I do like the fact that Benjamin chose brass and Sheridan chose bronze for their barrels, so rusty outer barrels isn't an issue.
Regardless, the crosman 1400 is is excellent shape and looks nice next to my Benjamin 317 & my Sheridan Blue Streak.
