Hi, looking for a gun under 300$ that is 800 fps or more. Have pal and would prefer to pick up in person. Located in the Niagara region but willing to drive as far as Toronto or a couple hours. Thanks

Hi - welcome to the CAF!

What kind of air rifle are you looking for?

HPA? Springer? Co2?

.177? .22? .25?

And why exactly 800 fps or over? Why not 700 fps in .25?

What exactly are you going to be shooting?

A lot of choices...

Hi and thanks for the welcome! Sorry about that I guess I was kind of vague on what I was looking for. Caliber isn’t really important to me but I’m looking for something to maybe hunt squirrel with in cold weather so I would consider gas piston but PCP or HPA would be ideal. 800 fps just seemed like a good number I would consider 700 fps but wouldn’t want to go much lower and would also maybe pay a little more for the gun. Thanks!

1st - Is it even legal to shoot ANY animal where you live? Many places make it ILLEGAL to shoot air guns outside at all....

2nd - Is it legal to shoot squirrels at all where you live?

3rd - At close range 700 fps is more than enough in .22 and even 600 fps in .25 is enough.

4th - PCP/HPA requires either a hand pump or a scuba tank to refill it - extra costs on top of the rifle

Hey to answer question one and two, the answers no, I live in the city so it is not legal to hunt squirrel here. There are plenty of places some of which I already hunt with a 410 and 12 gauge shot gun to hunt squirrel in Ontario along with rabbit which are perfectly legal to hunt with an air rifle. And yes pump extra cost. Thanks

Oh and the 3rd, yes 700 fps is enough. Am I not allowed to want 800 fps or higher? I would say 495 fps will do the job, I just figured it would be nice to have something over 800fps.

Welcome to this forum.
Here you will likely get many diverse, but non-the-less, good suggestions.
Knowing your parameters is quite important.
IMHO your limit of $300.00 puts you smack dab into the Springer category however, with the 800fps category most likely eliminates guns that will shoot accurately enough for the intended purpose, which are PCP. The price limit might prevent this. You could always look at the Benjamine Discovery line.
My HW97KT, a springer in .177 has, for argument's sake, the accuracy and makes 890fps with 8gr. Hunting Pellets however is 3 times your intended outlay.
I would check with Wes or DLairguns to see other alternatives. Wes has some high powered pump rifles might fill your needs.

Yeah, agreed...

And if falling into springers, looking for a powerful enough gun may give you smoother shooting cycle and better accuracy and easier to handle vs the over powered choices... So if a 700fps gun can do the job, usually it would be easier to handle than a 800fps one...

And you may want to consider how far you need the gun to shoot too when you making your choice ~

Wow ~ yeah! These are all good rifles!

I don't need a PAL rated gun and spent too much recently but I did read this ad for some times and want to get one indeed ~
