I guess the time has come that I want to make a change in my life, to actually do more of the things I want to do but seldom end up doing for some reason. May take some force at first but hopefully after a while, I will just do things I want to do, rather than just thinking about it but but ending up wasting time on youtube and facebook more often than not.

My wife looks after all that stuff for me!

I'd say you were lucky to have not grown up in my household.
Growing up was either go to school, get a full time job and pay rent, or get out. No lazying around all day.

I chose the latter... may seem harsh, but forced me to be successful.

Still pulling 50-55 hrs a week at 62.

Retirement ain't lookin so hot right now according to financial projections. Was asked to stay at work til 67 about 18 months ago, and will probably have to. In all honesty, I don't think I can afford to retire, just yet.

I'm lucky if I get enough time to check e-mail and post here...

Nice thing about long term employment is the seniority time off entitlement. I'm allowed 5 weeks, and usually take at least 4.

Ah,

I got my playing of Red Dead Redemption 2 done. It took a while because I kept being interrupted having to help dad, I was supposed to just hold something up so he could screw it in, but things weren't fitting right again, and again, and again, etc. Then when we got it up finally, it didn't turn on, so it had to be unscrewed and is on pause again until after I come back from work tomorrow as well as had some time to relax.

I feel a little too agitated to shoot right now, so playing with the 486 it is, until maybe later when I feel calm enough to shoot accurate.

I put in 20 years in corrections. That's a failry stressful job, having your family and yourself threatened with rape and murder, every day. I'd come home and

shoot in the basement, or reload ammo, which I always found refreshing and restful. I never waited for the anxiety to dissipate first, but use the shooting or

loading and casting bullets, as a relaxation exercise, quite confident in the fact I would always end up with the grass & dirt under my feet.

Eh,

I wasn't agitated because of helping dad, I mean I did get annoyed, but so did dad because of things not going well. That wasn't the problem. Should've been more accurate.

I was agitated because of a conflict involving a sibling, so was dad, and even mom, not gonna go much into it here, but this much older (about 12 years) sibling has been causing problems for a decade. I don't understand how dad still tolerates that sibling in his home with behavior like his over such a long period of time, and he's perfectly physically, mentally, and developmentally able so there's no reason for not just kicking him out for such extremely poor behavior, but it's probably mom stopping dad from doing that.

Still, I did most of the things I planned to do today, and didn't waste nearly as much time on Facebook and YouTube. I will definitely be keeping this up. I clearly have more than enough time, I just need to actually make good use of it.

Not to be a Debbie Downer here, but every time I read a post here I just think lazy and no real direction. I would be rather annoyed if this is all my kid did all day... no offence...

If you think you have no time now, wait till the reality of real world responsibility smacks you around a few times...

I have been living on my own since 16. By 23 I had a semi successful furniture business. Then life fell apart (a woman... of course) and I spent 3 years picking myself back up, putting the pieces back together, and creating a successful carpentry career for the next 8 years.

Not to get too personal, but I actually have been making progress the last few years for myself.

It wasn't until I was close to 21 that I ever had a job.

I have had a few jobs, one which I worked 35 hours a week at, until I left it because the job changed into something I could no longer handle, and so I looked for another, a couple didn't work out, one I have now I have no issue with, not many hours, but it's still better than nothing for now. It's a 1 year contract so when it comes to the last couple months, I will be looking for another job, still part-time but more hours for sure.

Ironically, I didn't really feel any crunch about time when I was doing 35 a week, so as I have determined, it's not the amount of time I have that is the issue, but rather my issues with going from thinking about something, to then actually doing it.

The extra bit over $500 dollars I make a month usually (not counting holiday pay, etc) really adds nicely on top of my ODSP, considering the deduction I get from my ODSP is less than $100, so it still makes sense to even work this job, than no job.

I had to use the help of employment agencies that work with disabled people (like myself) to find me employment, because when I did on my own, nothing came of it.

I would like to politely ask that as a sign of respect, that people don't just assume people's family situation, or life situation, because you never know what it might be, and how it might be very different for them, than it was/is for you.

Still have a ways to go before I reach my final goal, which is of course to be completely independent and all that, but I am making progress and am happy to even be where I am, and I am glad that my specific disability is not so severe that I will never be able to be completely independent, but it's just going to take some time.

See, when you give a bit more info and context to a situation it can change perspectives. Now instead of being critical because this all sounded a bit goofy, I can change my perspective to one of more encouragement. I’m not a terribly good human being, I can be kind of judgey.
So now, I wish you the best. If this road youre on, and the goals you’ve set, no mater how big or small, are things you desire to achieve, then keep on it. And when you’ve reached those goals, set new ones. But this time set the, a little higher. And each time you’ll reach a little further. And before you know it, you’re a lot further than you ever expected.
Good luck.

Thank You.

I didn't take any offence.

I don't usually disclose this information on the internet anymore. I am a somewhat different person at least in attitude, and temperament, etc than I was a few years ago. However, I could also see that "they clearly don't know the entire story, and knowing would help them realize that it's not so strange." and also everyone here seems nice and polite, so I shared it.

I used to be the type to call everyone who disagreed with me "stupid" and be very rude, etc, for one example. However, now I have friends with different political beliefs and different religious beliefs. We disagree on either politics/religion or both, but we debate respectfully like adults, not fling litter at each other. This all changed in the last few years as well, so I guess "growing up" is a real thing.

I did go to college from end of 2013 to June of 2015, took the "Computer Systems Technician" program because I wanted to have a career building/fixing computers, though I found out that just because I like something like a hobby, doesn't mean I'll like it as a profession because those two scenarios are very much different, so I switched to "General Arts and Science" took electives like "History of Rock N Roll", "Social Deviance", "History of Modern Art", and "Human Sexuality", just to advance my general education and at least get a certificate from a college, because even that's better on a resume than no college. I quite enjoyed the Human Sexuality course partly because the sex ed at my catholic elementary and high school was horrible, as well as the fact that society still has problems talking about sexuality as adults, etc, so it was refreshing to be in an environment where sex wasn't seen as "disgusting", "dirty", or "shameful".

Of course, I really only went because everyone was pressuring me to through the last couple years of high school. Now of course I tell people just a bit younger than me to not go to college/university because other people want you to, but rather because you want to and you are sure you know what you want to take because it s A lot of work, and also A lot of money.

Of course I am not against going back to college, and I probably will end up doing so, but first I need to find out for what, no point in going without any direction.

I have to go start my shift soon, so, I'll have to leave it here, but long story short I have things under control now.

Hopefully that oven vent dad and I were trying to put up yesterday will finally be installed later tonight, I hope... or I bet he will smash the friggin thing himself. :P
