I tested the .172 cal 24.7 gr. NOE HP in soap today.... It is quite spectacular at 1050 fps (60 FPE)….

The penetration was 3.5", and the wound cavity is nearly as wide as the length of the bullet, at 0.45"....

Wow Bob Your the master!

I was playing with my .177 got it tune for shot count and performance
and I got it at....

1110fps with a 16.1g for fpe of 44 but i need better ammo this ammo is not that accurate.

Straight line penetration shows good stability a sit was expanding, even when breaking up, Bob.
Well done. Appears my fears of instability were unfounded.

Some friends over on a small bore forum were interested in your work, Bob, so I told them of these rifles.
Hope you don't mind. They are small bore shooters - .14cal. to .20 mostly. One of them has a .10 and a .12.

Sounds great.... I can't imagine a .10 or .12 caliber bullet.... :shock:

I assume they are swaged, not cast, at that small a size?....

Turned on a small, precision lathe, after cutting from brazing rod, for the .10 and .12 calibres. The .14s and .15's are usually swaged

lead cores into jackets custom made.

The .10's and .12's usually use .32 ACP brass necked down and run to 4,000fps. With an exceptionally short maximum range of 100yards(usually). Starlings,
English Sparrows and Grackles are the usual targets & they just about disintegrate due to the hydrostatic shock of the high speed missiles, even though the
smallest ones are solid copper.

Imagine boring, reaming and rifling such a barrel!

It would seem to me to be worthwhile making the barrel to match the diameter of standard rods, in either 3/32" or 1/8", so that "all" you have to do is turn the Ogive and face off the base.... Can you purchase solid copper rod, or do they just use brass?.... I would think the required twist rate would be in the neighbourhood of 6" or so, maybe less.... :shock:

Seems like necking down a pistol cartridge is a strange way to get brass, isn't there something of comparable case volume with a neck closer to what you need?....
