I was commissioned to build a shroud and fit a barrel to a customer's rifle.

He supplied a green mountain .25 barrel and the carbon fiber tubing. All in all I think it turned out quite nicely.

Threaded the barrel to fit the factory transfer port bushing, and had to make another bushing to copy the stainless portion.
Shroud design is a pull tension setup.
Pretty straightforward really.
Looks pretty bada$$

It does look pretty nice. I don't understand what goes where, specially the brass bit with the o-ring, but i'm sure it works. Was it a .25 conversion, or just barrel replacement?

It was a caliber conversion. He has the .25 probe, looks like a simple install.

The brass piece is actually the breech of the barrel, then the breech end of the actual barrel lies just past the transfer port hole. If that makes sense. It eliminates the need to drill a port into the barrel. It's all sealed about 6 different ways. This job is non standard though, I looked on Google to see if it has been done and couldn't find anything. The fx barrel liners are like soda straw barrels, and all need some degree of reinforcement.

You should see my 9mm fx barrel setup

Barrel change on the fx is simply 2 set screws and a straight pull to remove.

But then the shroud systems that fx makes are all different. Some pull tension on the barrel, some compress. Pretty slick setups they got going on though.

Thanks gentlemen.
Hey Walter. The 9mm fx barrel is actually on a scratch built rifle, not an actual fx gun. I had a Kral 9mm barrel on it to begin with, but I don't care for the Kral barrel. It is supposed to measure .357" but it's actually .365" or so. Way loose. It shoots the Jsb pellets ok ish, (managed 4" group at 75 yards, crude iron sights) but I have some h&n grizzly slugs that literally slide down the barrel and stop at the choke.

I have the fx barrel fitted to an old qb79 breech at the moment. Seems to do the trick. I haven't shot it yet. I assembled everything, pumped it up and found some leaks. Wanted to address those before I take it out. But, it's likely I will have it out this weekend. Guess I'll have to update my red Ryder PCP build thread... Sorry guys hijacked my own thread here
