This afternoon I had a quick look at a new .177cal Stoeger S6000-E underlever rifle at a gunshop in Minnesota. They had the wood stock version for $219USd and synthetic for $199. This rifle has a resemblance to the old Gamo CF30 with a pop-up breech block like the Gamo and the HW57. Surprisingly, the breech block is metal and not plastic. The rifle doesn't have a sliding chamber so the weight is not too bad for offhand shooting. Adjustable trigger. Rated at 1200fps so likely 900 in real life. I guess it would be like an underlever Optimus. I held it next to an Optimus and it looked like a close compression tube length.

I'm curious if anyone has had the opportunity to fire one of these rifles. The old Gamo CF30 was known for good accuracy so maybe this Chinese copy stands a chance. The fixed barrel should help with accuracy. I have my PAL with me so was tempted to bring it home.

Here's a link to the Stoeger 6000 underlever It would look better with a rounded trigger guard and a stock similar to the Optimus. Possibly it uses the same cheap springs and piston seals as the Crosman B18 rifles. This rifle might have potential.

I guess nobody has seen or shot one of these rifles. I haven't even seen them available in Canada. Here are a couple of pics that I took at the gunshop in Minnesota. One shows the wood stock version and the other the synthetic stock.
