Wow! I enjoyed all those pictures. :drinkers:

All those high-end rifles and knowledge at that range would be unmatched. I can only dream of attending such an event.

Anytime that you make it you are welcome to join us at a match. You don't need any fancy rig to participate. However, be warned that field target is addictive and you might find yourself giving up a beer or two to start accumulating those goodies :D

HAHA match report August 12, 2023
By Rob Wright, Match Director

Thank You to the HAHA club for accommodating our request to relocate the match from Port Colborne to Hamilton.
Thanks also to our Course Marshals for this match: Jeff H. and James L.

We had 16 shooters brave the threatening weather and ended up with a great day for shooting. It looked like we might get away without getting rained on, but just as we were getting into setup the sky opened up and it dumped – if you see the photos that Tom posted you will see most pictures are bright and sunny – and one with rain just dumping down. Huge thanks to Jeff, Geoff, and James who bore the brunt of the heavy rain during setup – and to everyone else who helped with setup and teardown (and Tom for his reliable camera work!)

We used the usual HAHA setup with 6 lanes of 4 targets and 2 specialty lanes with 3 targets. We also set up a test lane to try out some new target options – thank you to everyone for your feedback.

The course setup mixed in some easy and some challenging shots – we also accidentally reversed target #2 and #3 on the standing lane – sorry about that for the people shooting Hunter and WFTF. It was impressive to see Tom, Mike, and Jeff knock down that 1” hit zone from 35 yards from a standing position. Then there was Joel who knocked it down twice!

Hunter division PCP was right down to the last lane as all 3 shooters ended within 1 point of each other.
Hunter Piston was a bit more spread out – much like the way that I was shooting! Marc and I both had math errors on our cards and he still beat me by 10.
Open PCP was the biggest division with 8 shooters. Rob G turned in a great score with only 3 targets not dropping, followed closely by Richard and Dennis.
WFTF Piston saw a long overdue visit by Joel and a reminder of what a sub-12 ft lb springer can do with the right operator. James and Jeff tied for second.

By the end of the match the humidity felt like about 100% and no one was eager to do a shoot off so we left the ties unresolved.

Complete results are in the table below this post.

There is only 1 more match in Grenville and 1 more in Hamilton before the Canadian Nationals.
For anyone who enjoys shooting Field Target, you really should plan to participate in the Nationals - yes there will be some very good shooters competing hard for the top spots - there will also be a number of less competitive shooters out to enjoy a chance to spend 2 days shooting and a chance to take home some great prizes. We have a number of sponsors again this year who have provided some awesome prizes. The prizes are awarded by draw not by score so the lowest score of the weekend can walk away with the pick of the prizes. The registration link will be going up soon. I hope to see many of you at the next couple matches and then at the Nationals.
Rob

Rob,
You did a great job designing an interesting match. Great to have a variety of shots to try before the Nats too.
Thanks
