Testing is done according to Matt Dubber.
In the market soon.
Higher BC, better expansion and same vel. and accuracy as pellets.
I guess we'll have to check them out, when WesB gets some.

How good it is?
Can use on sub 500fps or pistol?

I think it's still a long way to go to say goodbye to pellets.... :)

Do want to try them out tho~

Like it says - COMING SOON
Much depends on pricing and if they actually shoot well. If they do from pellet barrels and are decently priced, they will replace pellets for hunting.
Better BC's, same vel and accuracy - that is a BIG advantage in shooting 50 to 100yards - maybe beyond.

In past offerings slugs were not low velocity compatible. Would be interesting if these are. I would love to try some 177 slugs.

Yeah~ Exactly!

I would like to try the 177 too~ if they shoot well on a 12fpe springer that could be perfect!

I wouldn't be holding my breath. From what little I know about the few other brand slugs that I have tested in my 15fpe .22 springer, they are probably terrible. They either need more velocity, different twist rate or both. In a properly tuned and configured PCP maybe, but in a 12fpe airgun, much less a springer, I have my doubts. If they are ever available, something to test to be certain, but I won't be melting down my JSBs or AAs any time soon.

Yep~ I tried slugs too, just few of them... And pretty sure none of my guns can shoot slugs well... However still want to keep trying to see the miracle because slug makes my airgun looks not that like a toy anymore~ [emoji38] [emoji38]

And this time FX asks us to say goodbye to pellets which this "statement" is super eye-catching~

On picture, it looks just like a normal slug design... If It's just lighter than before, I could be very disappointed...

Sorry, found the new info. Will see what Matt has to say. Google 'Matt Dubber Halo'. Couple of recent items listed...

AND ...

Not a lot really. Same old hype from over 1.5 years ago. Here are a handful of what look like .35's on a small display table that spell out 'HALO'. Yawn. Nothing new. Looks like more FX sponsored hype. Absolutely no meat to the bite. Real Soon Now - we promise this time!

Wouldn't it be great if these new pellets just happen to be better then diablo pellets and a can of 500 pellets in .22 are only $10.00 :D

Alright... Looks It's just another slug for PCPs... On thd picture that mentioned it's pretty much just for "modern PCP airguns", and why say goodbye to pellets might be just because for its "new" design (BC and something else) makes it born to shoot well and you don't need to put lot of efforts like before to do pellet testing to find what the gun wants to shoot....

Looks I can pass this then~ :)

I tried some lighter weight (17.5gr.) HP slugs in my HW97 in .22 & at 18 yards, they shot quite well. I will have to try them further out.
As most people can see, these Halo slugs are shorter than ANY other slugs on the market, have larger HP's and less taper in the nose.
While the less taper will reduce BC, the larger HP and thus length per weight will increase the BC somewhat & will also make them more
"shootable" in slower twist springers, etc. Yes - if they eventually make the market, these will be interesting to test.
I have a few rifles I need to try them in, especially the HW97 in .177 as well as a .22 Brocock and few .25 cal PCP rifles(4).

I own a detuned .35 cal Kral BigHorn.

Finding ammo for this thing has been a pain. It does well with Snowpeak .35 cal pellets but slugs and balls .. not so much.

Picked up some FX Hybrid Slugs (not HALO, since those aren't out) , some Seneca balls, H&N lead slugs and some JSB Match Diabolos.

Although the gun is an excellent training rifle to get your stance and aiming dialed in, the low velocity of this detuned Big Bore makes the ammo choices quite "hit or miss". Pardon the pun. The BigHorn comes with a choked barrel and the entire platform is supposed to run at high power. In low power mode for the non-pal crowd that wish to upgrade to the full power valve later, the choice of ammo is quite limited.

The FX Hybrid Slugs barely came out of the barrel. Too much engagement with the choked barrel. Maybe its just Kral guns, but this proves that a "universal" slug might be a pipe dream.

The Seneca balls .. got stuck. Just a bit too large.

The H&N slugs, barely made it out of the barrel. 290 fps or something.

The JSB Diabolos faired OK.

The Sowpeak Pellets did the best but only come out of the barrel at 400 fps, far bellow the stated speed by CSS even for this detuned rifle.

In all fairness, the rifle, especially the detuned valve block configuration with the severely choked barrel is designed for pellets. Also my gun's barrel was overly choked, and that's been remedied since, but that's another story.

To make the other ammo work well with the gun and get a few more fps and make sure it actually comes out of the barrel, I had to run the ammo through a milled .35 cal sizing die.

Only once sized to the barrel, then the FX Hybrid slugs started creeping up their FPS to almost the same as the SnowPeak pellets.

That being said the pellets are 82 gr and the hybrid slugs are 67 gr. Yes the slugs are lighter and still come out of the barrel slower. That's engagement with the rifling. Anything smaller, and the air will just zip by the chambered slug and not provide enough pressure.

Bottom line: The HALO slugs might be pellet killers in FX guns only or guns with a twist rate and choked barrel that's compatible with slugs of a very specific size.

Attempting to shoot various slugs and pellets at low velocity was eye opening.

... and led me to cast my own hollow slugs out of tin and perfectly sized to the barrel. My slugs work perfectly for my gun.

FX might have a winning slug design and certainly for guns with high FPE, it might be a terrific choice, but my gut tells me it won't be a magic bullet for all guns, especially big bore, PAL or not.

Last Sunday shooting indoors, I tried the FX Hybrids out of my HW97 in .22. They are 22gr. I got one great group at
16.6yards (50feet) and several groups of 5 running in the 1/2" range. Will have to try those out further. The great
single hole .175" group (4) might have been a fluke. I don't expect they were running 600fps, which would be more
fpe than this springer can put out.(17.6 compared to a more normal 14.5)
