I just picked up one of these recently to satisfy my springer addiction. I've owned several Eastern Bloc air rifles in the past but this one seems especially unrefined. I'm being polite. It seems that some serious polishing of components is in the works and was wondering if any of you fine airgunning folks had any tips for me. I realize they occupied a low price point niche and the finishing reflects that but I'd like to smooth out the functioning and maybe step up the velocity a bit. It came with an extra spring which I thought would be different than the one installed, kinda like Non-Pal vs Pal rated but in fact they are exactly the same. Included with the kit was a conical shaped spacer about 1" +/- which appears to be designed to be placed in the piston ahead of the spring to boost velocity. Does this seem reasonable? The box label refers to it as a standard rifle-7.5 Joules. Right out of the box it's doing 8.5 so I should not complain yet the swept volume suggests there is quite a bit of room for an increase in velocity. Has anyone here done any light modding of this air rifle?
