The price went up since HAM reviewed it @$130. But it's as cheap as a QB78 and likely just as good out of the box with the exception that you can't scope it with the stock breach. So, it's cheap and as lauchlin alludes ... it's not up to much. Having said that, if you like to fiddle and tinker, then it has potential: first up a steel breach kit which is another $50, then there's the trigger... from the Maximus a single stage hard pull POS. What can be done about that? And the tube is unregulated and there it should probably stay. And the pellet loading problem - hopefully it has the 2240XL breach screw rear of the pellet. AND no provision for multishot magazine. All in all, if I got one I think I would upgrade to steel breach and leave it be - so $200 US price point, and it's only good value as a plinker - think of it as a PCP version of a B18 (Optimus, etc) springer.
What I find fascinating is how PCP has taken over the market - 20 yrs ago they were virtually unknown (very few on the market). Now the market is flooded with them.

you need entry level air rifles . its great for thepeople that want to try out the pcp air rifle without breaking the bank . no different than anything entry level , very few bells and whistles but thats ok and as long as it is reliable and reasonably accurate it should be a hit .

I think people should go/graduate from top end springers, to PCP.
There is a lot of learning to take place, first, imho, for best results overall.
IIRC, the first air rifle I bought, was a PCP from someone on this forum, many years ago.
Then I bought a Hatsan PCP, then an HW97 in .177.
I sincerely wish I had started with that top-end springer, instead of putting out even more for those two PCP's.
Even today, at springer ranges out to 50yards or so, that particular springer still pushes high-end PCP's to shoot as well as it does.
I've a good friend, local chap who still uses a 12fpe HW97 in .177 for indoor silhouette competing against ALL manner of high end match PCP rifles.
Yes, they are only shooting at 50', but the silhouettes are all sized for that range. Those chickens & roosters are so tiny.
He wins more times than he loses.
