How long can I leave my Quest 500x cocked? (I'm setting up a magpie stand).

i would say no more than 20 to 30 mins i hate having my gun cocked for over 10 to 15 mins lol. try not to have it cocked for to long because sooner or later your spring will fatigue . haveing it cocked just makes that time come faster i think .

There was an experiment info's that I can't find anymore about time spring gun cocked VS lost in fps. the experiment even done upto a week time and lost if I'm not wrong over 100 fps.

I would not worry about the Quest 500. The Quest 1000 maybe a different story. Both guns use the same spring; therefore the Quest 500 is lightly loaded.
A half decent spring will not take a set if it is not push beyond its design load. Most conservatively designed springer will not take a set (after its initial set) if left cocked.

No one worries about the springs on the suspensions of their cars that are loaded throughout their lives. :wink:

However, there could be a safety issue having a loaded and cock rifle lying around. :oops:

you should never leave a springer rifle cocked for long periods of time its not good for the gun or the spring and its also a safty issue,, get a good modded 2240 or even a pump up gun you can leave a pump up pressurised for long periods wihtout any real problems other then the valve stem will wear out faster then normal,but hey its cheap to replace a valve stem once every few years and untill you cock the gun its safe...

You will not hurt it leaving it cocked for long periods of time i left my webley hawk cocked for about 6 months it still shoots the same as it all ways did

it will depend on the spring . ask the co. all springs should have been compressed for a long period before they were shipped out . (cold or hot setting ) that is how springs are made . i don't think it will lessen the power much .considering the spring is not fully compressed in the gun .
still guns should NOT be left loaded and cocked . ''do you have an extra eye'', doesn't work at the hospital
