Go with the Crosman/Copperhead .22, they work great in the 2289.

Well different pellets for different shooting wish I had the magic pellet

I use the lighter 14 gr Crosmans for plinking with my modded Crosman 150 pistol, 21 grain pellets Kodiaks/Barracuda Matches for my Condor to about 50 yards and and 28 grain Eun Jins and 30 grain piledrivers for serious hunting past 50 yards up to about 100 yards. I find that the 28 grain plus pellets work best at longer ranges as the wind does not push them around as much.

At power level 10 on my .22 Condor I was able to blast thru both sides of a 2 litre plastic Coke filled with water at around 110 yards, gophers and magpies are usually dropped with 1 shot. Shooting a metal spinner with a plus 60 ft lb setup is entirely different than a 30 ft lb setup ballistic software tells the real story and hunting will confirm the difference in a hurry.

So there really is no all in one answer for you, different pellets work differently in different airguns and some are better for hunting and or target shooting than others lots of factors here.

Pictures of 30 grain Piledrivers shot into plumbers putty at around 950 fps, not many airguns can push a extra heavy pellet to this velocity though so just remember there is a real world difference between a under 50 meter target gun and a 100 yard hunting PCP setup.

Two completely different types of airguns that cannot do what the other does, one is for target shooting one is for hunting.

I used a 30 ft lb setup for years but got tired of seeing game get away. Don't fool yourself a 100% increase in projectile mass fired at the same velocity makes a world of difference at any range, as no one can control a pellets flight at longrange so forget the shot placement arguement to make up the difference, how many people do see using .223 in the bush hunting deer???

The cheapest ones my gun will shoot accurately.

Crosman Hunting Points load easiest, and print best for me, but are sorta spendy ($4.69/175ct).
Daisy Pointed Field are way cheaper, and group nearly as good ($2.69/250).
Just bought some Crosman Hollow Point ($8.99/500) but havent tried them yet.
Wadcutters are usually the cheapest, but I find them finicky to load.
SIR carries assortments of some expensive brands ($8.99/250 and up), but I haven't felt the need to try these yet.
I'm sorta concerned that the outcome may be similar to my experimenting with expensive Scotch; once you have aquired a taste for it, you can (unfortunately) taste the difference between a $40 bottle and a $70 bottle. The greatest injustice is that the $40 stuff never tastes as good again. :?

Purchase an assortment of whatever you can lay your hands on, and find which ones your gun likes best.

If you really want the best accuracy possible you should compare a variety of different pellets, and select the most accurate pellet for your particular gun. However, although each individual gun may have it's own preference for best accuracy, I prefer to stick to one or two types that perform well in all of my guns. I find that JSB Exacts have always worked so well in all of the airguns I have owned that I use them almost exclusively now.

Nope, you posted in the review section. It has now been moved though.

I find in general you can't go wrong with JSB Exact and H&N FTT
they seems to work well with all the guns that I tried.

Otherwise usually every barrel performs quite different from one
pellet to the next, no matter even from the same manufacture
of guns or pellets .....

Yup as Sniper commented above, he is the 51 and 78 Guru without doubt.

The big thing here is the fact you are using both a springer and CO2 gun than anything around 14 grains will match your gun and velocity. When I used to play in the 550 to 850 fps arena anything by H&N seemed to work great have fun and maybe order one of those pellet sample packs to know for sure.

I'm with Jester on this one. The Exact is my pellet of choice. Though I might buy a tin of H&N Baracuda's to try in my HW100, but so far the Exacts are performing as expected. Surprizingly, the Gamo Hunter in .22 is a pretty decent pellet to, and I used them in alot of my .22's before I discovered the JSB Exact. My last experience with Crosman/Copperhead pellets was horible, so they are on my never again list.
